[HOUR ONE]

-They opened with a scene backstage of The Death Riders and Will Ospreay. Jon Moxley said they might go down sometimes, but they don’t stay down. He said they’re running hard tonight and it’s live TV and they live for this. He said they need to have each other’s backs. They formed a huddle and ran in a circle. Ospreay fell over at the end and they played it like a blooper with Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia laughing and Marina Shafir saying, “It’s okay.” Mox just let out a breath.

(1) JON MOXLEY & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI & WHEELER YUTA vs. MISTICO & BRODIDO (Bandido & Brody King)

The bell rang 4 minutes into the hour. Excalibur noted this is Yuta’s first match since being attacked by Shane Taylor Promotions a few weeks ago on Collision. A few minutes in, Claudio and Brody exchanged strikes mid-ring that the crowd got into. Brody took down both Mox and Claudio seconds later after bouncing off the top rope. Then Bandido, Brody, and Mistico leaped onto the three heels gathered at ringside as they cut to a double-box break at 5:00. [c/db]

Brody landed a canonball against Mox in the corner after the break. He set up a Gonzo Bomb, but Claudio broke it up with a European uppercut. Bandido gave Claudio a vertical suplex. Chaos broke out. Brody took Mox down with a lariat, then set up a Gonzo Bomb, but Shafir distracted the ref as Claudio hit Brody from behind with a belt. Mox then scored a pin on Brody.

Excalibur, with no judgment on how they did it, said the Death Riders evened the score. He then said everyone would be banned from ringside when Mox defended the AEW Continental Title against Bandido at Forbidden Door.

WINNERS: Mox & Claudio & Yuta in 12:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: So top babyface Will Ospreay is okay with Brody getting nailed from behind with a title belt by his new running buddies? How about the announcers cast some judgment on the totally illegal way the Death Riders won? They acted like nothing untoward happened.)

-Renee Paquette interviewed The Conglomeration and Darby Allin if they were ready for the cage match on Sunday. Darby said he doesn’t feel ready at all, but this is Mark Briscoe’s opportunity and he’ll do whatever it takes to win. He said he wants his teammates to do the same. Roderick Strong said he’ll never forgive MJF for what he did to his best friend Adam Cole. He yelled “Adam!” Renee winced. Orange Cassidy said he’ll make sure they all have backpacks and they can put anything in it. Kyle O’Reilly said Briscoe will be out later to give the world a piece of his mind. Everyone but Cassidy left. Renee asked if he was okay. He said, “It’s fine,” but did so unconvincingly. Renee looked behind them and then left.

(2) MARINA SHAFIR vs. HARLEY CAMERON – Survival of the Fittest qualifier

Shafir was already at ringside. During Cameron’s ring entrance, they showed Cameron and Willow Nightingale at a red carpet event in New York for DC Studio’s “Super Girl” movie premiere. Camera on was dressed as Super Girl. Shafir kicked Cameron on the ring apron as she struck a pose. The ref rewarded the illegal pre-match attack by calling for the bell as soon as Shafir entered the ring (but at least he grimaced at her in a show of disapproval as he rewarded her) 20 minutes into the hour.

Cameron made a comeback and landed a wrecking ball kick through the ropes to ringside. She leaped off the ringside steps with a crossbody press and then celebrated. She told Schiavone she planned to take the TV Title. Excalibur noted Shafir was wearing boots to the ring for the first time in her AEW career. Shafir took over in the ring when she knocked Cameron off balance on the top rope. They cut to a double-box break. [c/db]

Cameron made a comeback until Shafir caught her with a big boot. Cameron applied a single-leg crab, but Shafir slipped free and applied a sleeper. Cameron leveraged Shafir’s shoulders down for a three count.

WINNER: Cameron in 5:00 to qualify for the Survival of the Fittest match

-A video package previewed the Owen Hart Foundation women’s final with Mercedes Mone vs. Maya World. Maya said she’s waited her whole career for this moment. Mercedes said she’s her boss and called her bitch and said this isn’t going to be her Cinderella story. “Dreams don’t win championships,” Mercedes said. “I do.”

-Excalibur plugged that on Collision on Saturdya, Mercedes & Athena would face Maya & Hyan. After Collision, a countdown show will air for Forbidden Door.

(3) WILL OSPREAY vs. ELP

The bell rang 32 minutes into the hour. Ospreay slingshot himself onto ELP at ringside at 2:00. ELP backdropped Ospreay on the ring apron and then landed a springboard Asai moonsault onto Ospreay. As he celebrated, they cut to a break. [c/db]

They countered each other mid-ring after the break with ELP landing a stunner on Ospreay. Both were down and slow to get up as the ref counted. Ospreay landed a Spanish Fly for a near fall a minute later. ELP countered a Hidden Blade with a roll-up for a near fall. Ospreay landed a nasty Hidden Blade a minute later for the win.

WINNER: Ospreay in 11:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: The announcers really praised the match as it progressed, and deservedly so. These two have good chemistry.)

-Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana walked out and crossed paths with Ospreay on his way to the ring for his match.

(4) SWERVE STRICKLAND (w/Prince Nana) vs. DANIEL GARCIA

They cut outside the arena where Garcia was walking into the arena with his game face on. He walked past fans in the concourse and then headed to the ring, pumping his first to get psyched up. He entered the ring, did push-ups, and then asked the ref to ring the bell. Garcia got in Swerve’s face when the bell rang 47 minutes into the hour. Fans chanted “Swerve’s House!” They slapped each other mid-ring. Swerve knocked Garcia down and then pounded him. Swerve dropped Garcia over the top rope and then kicked him. Garcia rolled to the floor. Garcia yanked Swerve off the ring apron and punched away at him. He gave Swerve a Dragon Screw at ringside and then raked his back with his fingernails. Garcia then charged and landed a big boot at ringside. They cut to a partial double-box break. [c/pdb]

Swerve took over coming out of the break. Fans chanted “Swerve’s House!” again. Garcia tried to fight back, but Swerve no-sold his clothesline at first. Garcia pushed through and took Swerve down with a clothesline. Swerve blocked a piledriver and landed a backbreaker and a powerslam for a two count at 10:00.

Swerve’s leg gave out on a Swerve Stomp attempt and then landed a Styles Clash for a two count. Garcia set up a Dragon Tamer, but Swerve upkicked to break free. Swerve face-planted Garcia and then hit his signature House Call sidekick to the face for a two count. He hit a Hidden Blade next for the win.

WINNER: Swerve in 12:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: No doubt about the outcome throughout, but a good hard-hitting back and forth battle.)

-Swerve attacked Garcia after the match. Ospreay made the save. Ospreay threw a kick to the jaw of Swerve. Nana tripped Ospreay from ringside, leaving Ospreay vulnerable for a House Call. Swerve set up a Vertebreaker, but Garcia broke it up. Swerve then gave Garcia a Vertebreaker. Ospreay came back into the ring with a chair. Swerve retreated.

[HOUR TWO]

-A brief vignette aired on MJF vs. Mark Briscoe.

-Backstage, Don Callis gathered his “family” and MJF. Kevin Knight cut a brief promo and then turned to MJF said, “When this little playdate is over, I want my title shot.” Callis asked Kazuchika Okada if he had anything to say. Okada said, “Bitch.” Kyle Fletcher also spoke briefly before MJF cut to the front and said he’s lived a first-class life and has never worked 9-to-5. He said he was born with a white collar and “white collar always wins.” He said Ospreay is a “blue collar bitch.” He said he’s never kicked out of the Jay Driller, but that’s because Briscoe has never managed to give it to him. He said he never will. MJF told Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero to leave as they were “killing him.” Callis shooed them away. MJF said Callis has them working as a team. Callis revealed a t-shirt for Team DCMJF with Callis and MJF in bikini briefs and all muscular shaking hands. Okada and Fletcher winced when they saw it.

(5) “JUNGLE” JACK PERRY vs. ZACK SABRE JR.

Schiavone said Perry wanted this match because he wanted to test himself against one of the world’s greatest wrestlers. The bell rang 8 minutes into the hour. ZSJ controlled Perry on the mat for most of the first few minutes before they cut to a double-box break. [c/db]

Perry made a comeback after the break, but ZSJ caught him at ringside with an armbar. The ref warned him to break or get DQ’d. The ref yelled, “Try me! You win the match in the ring!” Perry landed a sliced bread on the ring apron and then leaped off the top rope with a flip onto ZSJ. Some fans chanted, “Holy shit!” ZSJ applied an armbar submission in the ring seconds later. Perry escaped with a one-armed powerbomb, but he was selling a damaged arm.

Perry came back with a Snare Trap. He landed a double-underhook into a powerbomb for a two count a minute later. ZSJ applied an arm submission with captured legs mid-ring and got a submission win.

WINNER: ZSJ in 13:00.

-The Young Bucks came out right afterward. [c]

(6) THE YOUNG BUCKS (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. TMDK (Bad Dude Tito & Mikey Nicholls)

The Bucks took it to TMDK from the start rapid-fire and eventually won with a their signature springboard stuff tombstone.

WINNERS: Bucks in 5:00.

-ZSJ, Tito, and Nicholls attacked the Bucks afterward. Kenny Omega ran out for the save. He landed a Snap Dragon and then went face-to-face with ZSJ and gave him a Snap Dragon. ZSJ and TMKD retreated. Omega said afterward, “May the best man win.” He said after he’s done with him on Sunday, everyone will forget about him like they did last year. ZSJ interrupted Omega’s music and said, “Hey Kenny, try to stay out of the hospital, alright darling?”

-A video package aired on Thekla vs. Starlight Kid including footage of Thekla in Stardom getting dragged away. Excalibur said Thekla made an unannounced appearance in Japan at a Stardom event and attacked Stardom’s president.

(7) RED VELVET vs. QUEEN AMINATA – Survival of the Fittest qualifying match
