NEWCASTLE, ENGLAND
REPORT BY JAMES WHALE, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT
(1) Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz to retain the IC Title.
(2) Heath Slater & Rhino beat The Usos and Breezango in a three-way tag team match to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Titles.
(3) Jack Swagger beat Kurt Hawkins in less than 30 seconds.
(4) Baron Corbin beat Kalisto.
(5) Kane & American Alpha beat Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper. American Alpha had very little chance to show what they could do. All they did was move around the ring so Kane didn’t have to. They should have had a match with Breezango and done all their stuff as there were a number of people who didn’t know much about them. This was a perfect opportunity wasted to excite the fans to look out for them on Smackdown, but they were lost in a pretty average match.
(6) Nikki Bella & Naomi beat Natalya & Carmella.
Intermission.
(7) The Hype Bros. beat The Ascension.
(8) Becky Lynch beat Alexa Bliss to retain the Smackdown Women’s Title. A very good match. The fans rallied around Becky for the comeback and boos were loud for Alexa.
(9) A.J. Styles beat Dean Ambrose to retain the WWE World Title. A very strong main event. The fans really were loud. When the heel won the fans felt satisfied with the main event.
NOTES: The 5 p.m. Sunday start time worked well to attract the the families and the show was nearly sold out.
