SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

In one month, WWE reintroduced Bill Goldberg, allowed him to cut heartfelt promos and booked him to squash Brock Lesnar in under two minutes. In other words, WWE finally understood WCW’s successful Goldberg formula nearly 14 years after Vince McMahon and company first put a wig on him.ruthless_aggression_6

Goldberg has become WWE’s most over babyface since his return to Raw on October 17. Likewise, his WWE action figures from Jakks Pacific have been white hot, with secondary market prices skyrocketing since his Survivor Series win on November 20.

Goldberg was a big part of WWE when Jakks revamped its wrestling line to what most collectors call the Ruthless Aggression style. He was featured in several sets from 2003 to 2004 with various looks: T-shirt and jeans, WCW era plain black trunks, and black and white trunks from his WWE run.

Most of Goldberg’s Jakks figures were already commanding relatively high prices over the last several years, largely because Mattel has yet to make a Goldberg figure. That will probably change in 2017, but for now collectors who want a quality figure of Goldberg are spending upwards of $150 to get one still in a sealed package.

Prior to Survivor Series, a couple of packaged figures sold for as high as $89.99 each; some sold for as little as $14.99, while most sold in the $40-$50 range. On November 21 – the day after Goldberg’s big Survivor Series win over Lesnar – a Ruthless Aggression Series 4 figure still in the classic_superstars_25package sold for $143.99. Back on October 8, another seller sold that same figure for $14.99. Also on November 21, a Ruthless Aggression Series 8 packaged figure sold for $159.99.

The majority of Goldberg’s figures sold on eBay from September through November were loose figures that didn’t include their original packaging. Prior to Survivor Series, the median sale price of a loose Goldberg figure on eBay was $34.93, with a high of $59.99 and a low of $4.99. Since November 20, the median sale price for a loose Goldberg figure has been $44.99.

Many sellers have noticed this and adjusted their prices accordingly. There are now several packaged Goldberg figures listed in the $100-$150 range.

Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson are giving away a Jakks Pacific TNA Dixie Carter action figure. Fans are asked to tweet @HeyHeyItsConrad and @PrichardShow with #WheresDixie with a picture of a landscape of where they would like to (or expect to) see the embattled TNA president. The winner will be announced on the Something to Wrestle With podcast next Friday, December 6.

If you didn’t find any great deals on wrestling figures on Black Friday, don’t give up. Some online retailers save their best deals for Cyber Monday.
