SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE Studios has taken a step forward with their “Gorgeous George” biopic that has been in the works for several years.

Variety reports that WWE Studios is now working with Great Point Media to get the movie rolling. Included is the hiring of two scriptwriters to develop the story of George Raymond Wagner, who played “Gorgeous George” during the golden age of TV.

George was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010. Included was an announcement that WWE would make a movie about George to go with his HOF induction. That did not pan out by 2011, as advertised.

In 2011, WWE shifted plans to a DVD release scheduled for 2012. That did not materialize, either.

Now, WWE is back to trying a movie on George, with help from outside parties to get the project in motion.
