SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

TORCH TODAY – Wednesday, December 2

– LIVECAST ALERT: PWTorch columnist Pat McNeill welcomes back former WCW wrestler Bob Cook for a hard-hitting Livecast at 5:00 p.m. EST at PWTorchLivecast.com taking your calls and emails.

– WEDNESDAY NIGHT TV WRESTLING: WWE NXT has a big singles match of Samoa Joe vs. Tommaso Ciampa. … TNA begins the TNA Title tournament Round of 16 with a host of First Round matches. … Ring of Honor finished its run on Destination America last Wednesday.

Notably, this is the first episode since May that TNA has been alone on Destination America. Impact is airing at 9:00 p.m. EST, then an episode of “Mountain Monsters” airs at 11:00 p.m. EST in the previous ROH timeslot. The Impact replay kicks in at midnight EST. It will be interesting to see how the replay audience is affected without a wrestling show bridging from 11:00 to midnight. It might not be that big of a change, though, since that replay hour counts first-run West Coast viewership.

Also, ROH debuts on the Comet TV digital network at midnight EST. (Notably, many markets carry Comet as a second or third channel attached to a broadcast network. For example, Channel 31.2 over-the-air.) ROH is advertising a face-to-face confrontation between ROH champion Jay Lethal and A.J. Styles.

– WWE NETWORK HIGHLIGHTS: WWE has a new “First Look” episode at 4:00 p.m. EST previewing the forthcoming Owen Hart DVD. It’s a half-hour clip from the DVD release. NXT then airs at 8:00 p.m. EST.

– The full content for WWE’s “NXT: Greatest Matches” DVD has been published at WrestlingDVDNetwork.com. There are a lot of interesting matches starting with Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal for the NXT Title in August 2012. Plus, a Blu-ray extra of C.M. Punk & Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro & Kassius Ohno (Chris Hero) from October 2012. The DVD is due out in March 2016.

– PWPODCASTS: Mick Foley joined “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on the latest edition of Austin’s podcast for a “must-listen” discussion about the State of WWE from their perspective. (Full Recap at PWPodcasts.com)

– Six WWE individuals have been nominated for the “Celebs Gone Good” list, WWE announced. Included are Stephanie McMahon, John Cena, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Roman Reigns, Titus O’Neil, and Big Show. Cena ranked #7 on last year’s list. There are hundreds of people listed for the voting, which runs through Christmas Day.

Brad Maddox, who was released from WWE after last week’s Smackdown TV taping, is making the media rounds promoting his post-WWE endeavors and business. Maddox said on the Busted Open satellite radio show that he was cut because Vince McMahon was upset about him using the word “pricks” in a promo aimed at last Tuesday’s Indianapolis crowd. Maddox said he was surprised at being released. Interestingly, Maddox says McMahon was actually on-board with a Maddox & Adam Rose pairing the day of his release.

ESPN covered members of the Pittsburgh Steelers appearing ringside at Raw on Monday night. ESPN noted that Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams is a “diehard wrestling fan.” Williams got the best of the wrestling worlds playing college football at Memphis and playing most of his NFL career for the Carolina Panthers.

– The Ottawa Sun covered Canadian senator Patrick Brazeau getting involved in last weekend’s Great North Wrestling show in Rockland, Ontario, Canada. Brazeau helped Jeremy Prophet become new GNW champion.

– And, finally, NXT champion Finn Balor joined the 2K Sports crew for a new edition of the “WWE 2K Live Stream” on YouTube. Balor helped review new content available in the game.
