– Two movies with wrestling tie-ins are due out Christmas Friday. John Cena and Taryn Terrell have cameos in “Daddy’s Home” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Plus, the “Concussion” movie starring Will Smith is out this weekend.
– WWE’s annual Christmas to New Year’s tour kicks off Saturday in New York City and Detroit. This will mark John Cena’s in-ring return after filming “American Grit” for Fox. Plus, Maryland Championship Wrestling has a big show Saturday in Joppa, Md. (Full Events Center)
– Jim Ross is scheduled for a rare independent show appearance. Ross is scheduled to reunite with Jerry Lawler for Imperial Wrestling Revolution’s “When Worlds Collide” show on January 16 in Oklahoma. The line-up is huge. Also scheduled are Scott Hall, Jim Duggan, Scott Steiner, Sean Waltman, James Storm, Mickie James, Evan Bourne, Ethan Carter III, Jinder Mahal, Chris Masters, and more. (Ticket & Event Info)
– Pop TV is officially listing a TNA New Year’s special at midnight 12:00 a.m. on January 1, 2016. The description of the new one-hour program is “An in-depth look at Impact Wrestling, including its wrestlers, history, feuds, factions, and fans, as well as a look at the World Title Series.” (Thanks to VIP member David in Memphis)
– Because WWE believes the label “Sports Entertainment” is more marketable than “wrestling,” WWE has decided on the following title for an Eric Bischoff DVD in 2016 – “Eric Bischoff – Sports Entertainment’s Most Controversial Figure.” The DVD is scheduled for release mid-2016. – Wrestling-related movies “Heist” and “12 Rounds 3: Lockdown” are scheduled for DVD release this coming week. Heist features Dave Bautista along with Robert De Niro and the third 12 Rounds installment features Dean Ambrose.
– The Fox affiliate in Austin, Texas picked up on “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson replying to a woman in a nursing home who is Rock’s self-proclaimed biggest fan. The cool story at Fox7Austin.com.
– “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s new craft beer made a list of the Top 15 craft beers of 2015.
– Video of the Day #1: NBA star LeBron James tried to drop teammate Kevin Love with a Stone Cold Stunner during a post-game interview on Wednesday. James, a noted wrestling fan, will try similar moves on Christmas when the Cleveland Cavaliers face the defending NBA champion Golden St. Warriors this afternoon.
