RETHINKING LANA-ROCK

I get a little squeamish whenever – in WWE or pro wrestling in general or even outside of pro wrestling in other forms of entertainment – a man is treated as a stud for having sex whereas a woman is shamed or treated like she’s a slut or should be embarrassed. That happened last night on Raw. Rock was so entertaining in the segment, it’s easy to get lost in his “charm” and the humor in the presentation and lose sight of why Lana was acting ashamed and bashful whereas Rock was bragging and unaffected. Yes, Lana – in a storyline is attached to Rusev, but also has had ups and downs – and Rock’s character on air doesn’t really talk about his wife or being in a relationship. On that level, Lana timeline-wise may have been breaking a vow whereas Rock was just a recipient of a sexy woman knocking on his door.

There’s another level here, though, which is that Lana has heat with WWE management…
