The day after WrestleMania, new WWE World Hvt. champion Roman Reigns and new WWE Women’s champion Charlotte flew from Texas to New York City to appear on NBC’s “Today” morning show.
The big item at the end of the segment was Reigns calling out John Cena, who has become an honorary co-host on the “Today” show. “Hey John Cena, The Champ is here,” he declared.
Today show co-host Willie Geist noted that he just called out Cena on his show, prompting Reigns to talk a big game about walking into your house and eating your food.
Tamron Hall, the other co-host, went wrestling mode saying “We just booked the big showdown – John Cena and Roman Reigns. We booked it!”
Related to the women’s division, the other big item of the WrestleMania-themed segment was Charlotte confirming that WWE is retiring the title and marketing term “Divas.” She said the women’s wrestlers will be known as “Superstars” like the men.
Charlotte also pointed out that she has a nice, new title belt that looks like Reigns’s title belt. Reigns followed up by endorsing the female roster as working just as many dates as the male roster.
After talking up her title match against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch last night, Charlotte said what’s next for her is “stealing the show” in future title defenses. Asked how she beat two other wrestlers last night, Charlotte said she has a trick up her sleeve – her dad, Ric Flair.
Also during the interview, Reigns and Charlotte talked up the spectacle of WrestleMania as footage aired of The Rock with his flame gun, Shaq’s surprise appearance, Snoop Dogg, Reigns winning the WWE Title from Triple H, and Charlotte’s ring entrance.
Willie and Tamron were then presented with replica WWE Title and Women’s Title belts, respectively. Charlotte called Tamron the “first-ever Women’s champion morning co-host.” That helped get Tamron into wrestler mode for the end of the segment when she declared they booked Reigns-Cena.
– TMZ also caught up with Reigns and Charlotte while in New York City. The new champs talked about their food and beverage selection celebrating WrestleMania. Charlotte also talked about her dad Ric Flair being most excited about her wearing a signature robe to the ring at WrestleMania.
Reigns and Charlotte were hurriedly packed into a limo to make it to the airport to fly back to Dallas for post-Mania Raw.

Man, I looked forward to this Today show segment, and I don’t know if it was fatigue or what, but Willie Geist and Tamron Hall had ten times the charisma of the wrestlers. Roman and Charlotte were so blase’ I thought they were going to cut to a commercial before the segment was done.
