WWE Smackdown TV News & Notes 4/28

– WWE World Hvt. champion Roman Reigns beat Intercontinental champion The Miz in the main event after Miz and Reigns got into it on Miz TV in the opening segment.

After the match, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows attacked Reigns, which brought out A.J. Styles and The Usos. Styles tried to remain neutral for a bit of a repeat from Raw to reinforce the Reigns-Styles issue heading into their WWE Title match at Payback.

– The League of Nations disbanded. WWE got one last match out of them losing to U.S. champion Kalisto, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro in a six-man tag match. Rusev and Alberto Del Rio walked out on Sheamus, then a shoving match broke out after the match.

– Dean Ambrose hosted Women’s champion Charlotte, Ric Flair, and Natalya in the Ambrose Asylum to promote Charlotte vs. Natalya at Payback. WWE scripted the segment to “get personal” playing up Ric and Bret Hart being on opposite sides of the ring on Sunday.

– Baron Corbin got his squash win over Damien Sandow that Dolph Ziggler prevented on Raw.

– Apollo Crews beat Stardust again in a re-match from Raw.

– R-Truth formed a new team with Tyler Breeze called the “Gorgeous Truth.”

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the League of Nations disbanding! What an awful idea to begin with. Maybe Rusev can get back with Lana now (where he belongs) and actually start winning matches again. Del Rio deserved far better than this stinker of a gimmick. As for Shamus? Maybe he will abandon the Mohawk and return to “fan favorite” again. Lord knows, he can use the popularity boost. And wherever Barrett may be, he was wise to get “kicked out” ahead of the official disbanding. Looks like the League of Nations actually had some “Good News” for us. Bye bye to a stinker of a gimmick!
