Independent wrestler Tony Nese has officially qualified for WWE’s summer cruiserweight tournament.

Nese won a Cruiserweight Flashpoint match at EVOLVE 63 Saturday night in Orlando, Florida.

The set-up was Nese lost the opening match of Friday’s EVOLVE 62 event. Nese said he was done being a loser and demanded to be added to the Cruiserweight Flashpoint match on Saturday.

Nese was added, then promptly won the five-way flashpoint match against other qualifiers Johnny Gargano, Drew Gulak, T.J. Perkins, and Lince Dorado.

PWTorch learned earlier this spring that Nese was slotted for the tournament. WWNLive then executed the storyline plan to add Nese to the tournament on this weekend’s EVOLVE shows.

On this week’s NXT Conference Call, WWE executive Triple H advertised announcements and more details on the tournament to follow in the coming weeks surrounding the first TV taping on June 23 in Florida.
