SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Kenny Omega won the 2016 G1 Climax tournament, beating Hirooki Goto in the finals Sunday in Tokyo, Japan.

Omega finished Goto with a combination of Prince Devitt/Finn Balor’s finisher, A.J. Styles’s Styles Clash finisher, and his own One-Winged Angel finisher to pin Goto and win the tournament.

Omega established himself as the next official leader of Bullet Club, following the lead of Devitt/Balor and Styles as the third generation head of the Club.

Omega now receives an IWGP World Title shot at the Tokyo Dome Show on January 4. If Omega retains his Tokyo Dome contract and if Kazuchika Okada retains the IWGP World Title all the way to January 4, it would set up an intriguing first-time-ever match of the Bullet Club and CHAOS faction leaders.

  1. Omega shouldn’t be IWGP Heavyweight Champion (it’s not the IWGP World title, even New Japan doesn’t call it a world title, so you are calling it the wrong name)
