WWE released a video clip of Sting’s new sit-down interview with JBL premiering Friday night on WWE Network.

The clip includes Sting acknowledging a rumor that he was penciled in to face Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 18 in 2002 – a year after WWE bought out WCW and Sting’s personal contract was set to expire.

Sting said he did have talks with Vince McMahon, but when attorneys got involved, things did not work out. So, Sting stayed away from WWE for 12 years until joining the company in 2014.

“Everything was great, but WWE attorneys, my attorney, and now all of a sudden there’s trouble. Bottom line, I think Vince wanted more of a commitment at the time than I was willing to give,” Sting said.

Sting also talked about not trusting WWE and McMahon at the time, believing that Vince “wanted me more to undermine WCW than he did as a talent.”

“I always got that feeling. I watched what happened with some of the guys when they came here, and I just never trusted it,” Sting said. “I’m thinking if I go up there, I don’t trust it. I just don’t trust.”
