NXT LIVE EVENT REPORT
DECEMBER 7, 2016
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA
REPORT BY PETER YOUNG, PWTORCH VIP MEMBER 10+ YEARS

Obviously the “bring a buddy” campaign wasn’t successful because the AIS Arena was far from sold out, even with half the venue blacked out. The merch stand was selling signed Nakamura prints for AU$20. At interval, an additional poster signed by pretty much the entire tour roster appeared for $50. Shirts were $50. Toy NXT belts were $40. Replica belts were $500. The guy behind the counter said they had sold four already tonight. Everyone that entered last won their match tonight.

(1) TM61 beat The Revival

(2) Patrick Clark bested Wesley Blake. There was very little initial reaction to Blake, but eventually the crowd picked up the similarities between him and Tyler Breeze and the heckles came thick and fast

(3) Ember Moon pinned Aliyah in a face versus face match that ended with hugs all round.

(4) Victoria’s own Buddy Murphy beat Akira Tozawa. The crowd really got behind Murphy…I hope they do more with him as a face on NXT TV

(5) DIY (Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) bested Tino Sabatelli & Riddick Moss. A Sabatelli Section in the crowd really seemed to amuse all four competitors

William Regal made a short speech about how he is proudest of his NXT years. What about being a man’s man?

(6) Liv Morgan & Asuka beat Billie Kay & Payton Royce. The Aussie duo are developing into nice heels, but are certainly not there in terms of ring work

(7) Oney Lorcan defeated Elias Sampson. The crowd sang Wonderwall with Sampson until he started besmirching Canberra

(8) Tye Dillinger & Shinsuke Nakamura bested Bobby Roode & Samoa Joe. These guys are all so polished in the ring… surely it’s time for a call-up to the main roster?

FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall an enjoyable house show. I hope the small crowd doesn’t deter WWE from mounting further NXT tours in the future.
