GFW announced on Wednesday that it has suspended Alberto El Patron indefinitely stemming from a domestic violence incident at the Orlando International Airport earlier this week.
“Global Force Wrestling has indefinitely suspended Alberto El Patron, effective immediately, until the investigation is resolved following a recent incident in Orlando, Florida,” the company said in a statement.
GFW said it would conduct its own internal investigation after TMZ reported on Monday that El Patron was under investigation by Orlando police for a “domestic violence battery” incident at the airport. Heavy.com released audio recordings, where El Patron and his fiance, WWE’s Paige, could be heard in a verbal confrontation.
El Patron won the GFW Unified Hvt. Title at Slammiversary on July 2 from Bobby Lashley. He was heavily involved in storylines for upcoming episodes of GFW Impact, which were recorded last week in Orlando. It’s unclear if GFW will use that footage or replace it on upcoming broadcasts. Last week’s GFW Impact ended with a cliffhanger regarding whether or not El Patron was the newest member of the L.A.X. stable.
