9/20 Lucha Underground TV Report “The Rise of the Announcer”: London vs. Suerte vs. Salvador vs. Castro vs. Drago vs. Son of Havoc vs. Pentagon

LUCHA UNDERGROUND TV REPORT – “The Rise of the Announcer”
SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 (Season 3, Ep. 36)

-The show opened with recaps the Gift of the Gods winners, Pentagon Dark-Famous B and Fenix-Marty Martinez.

Backstage: Fenix was training in a ring with Melissa Santos. Santos said she wants to see Fenix without his mask. He said his mask is everything to him and he was a nobody without it. Santos said that with or without the Fenix he is still Fenix. Fenix said if he loses his mask he will lose everything. Santos countered and said he wouldn’t lose her. Then they kissed.

Announcers: Striker welcomed the audience to the show then hyped the matches coming up tonight. Vampiro analyzed the mixed tag match for tonight then threw to tonight’s guest ring announcer, Famous B.

In ring: Famous B introduced Dante Fox to the ring. B then introduced Texano by discussing their history and trying to persuade him to join his agency.

1 – DANTE FOX vs. TEXANO

Fox attacked Texano from behind. Fox hit a kick from the ring apron and followed it up with a shooting star press. Killshot watched the match from above in the rafters. Texano fought back with a clothesline and a back breaker. Fox came back and hit a neck breaker off the turnbuckle followed by a splash. Fox countered the power bomb and hit a crucifix bomb for a two count. Texano hit a back breaker for a two count. Famous B announced that Texano had won the match. He entered the ring and tried to celebrate with Texano. Fox capitalized and rolled up Texano from behind for the win.

WINNER: Dante Fox at 5:39.

Post match: Dario came out and said that Texano cannot hurt Famous B tonight because he needs him as his ring announcer. Dario had a counter offer saying that Texano can face Famous B next week and if Famous B wins then Texano must become his client.

[Break]

Backstage: Son of Havoc put his medallion into the Gift of the Gods belt in Dario’s office. He said after he wins the belt he will insert himself into the Ultima Lucha main event. Pentagon Dark came up to Havoc from behind. Dario told him to save the fight for later tonight. Pentagon told Dario that he will break the arms of everyone in the ring tonight. Dario grabbed his phone and said that they will need more medics tonight.

In ring: Famous B introduced Marty Martinez and Mariposa to the ring. Next out was Fenix and Melissa Santos.

[Break]

2 – MARTY “THE MOTH” MARTINEZ and MARIPOSA vs. FENIX and MELISSA SANTOS

Fenix started the match with Mariposa. They went back and forth until Fenix hit a big kick on Mariposa forcing her to tag in Marty. Fenix caught Marty on the ropes then hit a big kick. Fenix followed up with a lethal infection then knocked Marty to the outside. Fenix dove onto Marty on the outside. BAck in the ring, Santos tried to tag in, but Marty attacked Fenix from behind. MAriposa came into the ring and continued to dominate Fenix. Shortly thereafter Marty came back in, but Fenix kicked Marty then crawled towards Santos in the corner. Santos kicked Marty in the corner then leaped onto MArty from the top. Santos kicked Marty and Mariposa several times then tried to get the pin on both Mariposa and Marty. Fenix got knocked over in the corner to which Santos crawled to his aid. Vampiro and Striker blamed Santos emotions for getting in the way. Mariposa tied Fenix hand to the bottom rope. Marty and Mariposa then cornered Santos and hit a pedigree like move for the win.

WINNER: Marty and Mariposa at 8:43.

Post match: Marty grabbed a scissors and went for Santo’s hair. Fenix broke free and saved Santos.

Announcers: Striker and Vampiro ran down the card for Ultima Lucha Tres:

(a). El Dragon Azteca Jr. vs. Matanza – Steel Cage match

(b). Ivelisse vs. Catrina

(c). Fenix vs. Marty Martinez – Mask vs. Hair

(d). Sexy Star vs. Taya – Last Luchadora Standing

(e). Killshot vs. Dante Fox – The Hell of War match

(f). Prince Puma vs. Johnny Mundo – Career vs. Title

In ring : Famous B introduced all of the participants for the Gift of the Gods match.

3 – PAUL LONDON vs. MALA SUERTE vs. SALTADOR vs. CORTEZ CASTRO vs. DRAGO vs. SON OF HAVOC vs. PENTAGON DARK – Gift of the Gods match

Everyone started brawling each other to begin. Pentagon fought Saltador in the middle of the ring. Drago came in and cleared out the ring. Pentagon came back in the ring and fought Mala Suerte. Drago then fought with Pentagon for a bit until Castro came in. Saltador the fought Cortez Castro. Havoc came in and brawled with Saltador. Havoc attempted a pin, but it was broken up by London. Drago cleared out the ring then dove to the outside. Havoc then hit two dives followed by a neck breaker on London. Saltador and London teamed up to fight off Pentagon. Pentagon then hit a package piledriver on Saltador followed by London. At the same time, Havoc hit a shooting star press. The ref counted both pins.

WINNER: Pentagon Dark and Son of Havoc at 6:40.

Post match: Dario came out and said Havoc and Pentagon would face each other at Ultima Lucha in a ladder match.

-Dario met with a man in a limo. He said that he brought the gauntlet with him. They discussed how Cage failed as a host of the gauntlet. Dario proposed a three way match for the gauntlet at Ultima Lucha between Cage, Jeremiah Crane and Mil Muertes. Dario said if Cage get it back he invites the mysterious man at the end of the limo to take out Cage himself.

FINAL THOUGHTS: They have done a nice job building to Ultima Lucha. Some of the matches do feel like they were thrown together last second, but they don’t feel out of place like some of the matches from Ultima Lucha Dos.
