It’s now been a full year of NXT’s current series, not including the recap episodes from the winter holiday season.

[Q1] No pre-match video, and Big E. Langston is out for the first match. He looks like he means business. He’s fighting Aiden English.

(1) BIG E. LANGSTON vs. AIDEN ENGLISH

English shows off a bit and he gets the freight train treatment, the straps are down, and the Big Ending finishes.

WINNER: Big E. Langston in 1:00.

Post-match, it’s the usual Big Ending and a five count. He’s halfway to the ramp when the crowd wills him back into the ring for another. He spent more time considering it than the whole match lasted.

Backstage, Emma is playing with a bubble blowing gun as Renee Young comes in to ask her about the NXT Women’s Championship tournament. Young is trying to avoid the bubbles. Emma is too busy popping bubbles to listen, but says she will win so she can take the Emma-lution around the world, then blows bubbles in Young’s face.

Aksana is out for her match with Emma. An eager fan begs for a handslap and she plays like she will and pulls her hands away at the last moment. Emma with some crowd support as she dances to the ring.

(2) EMMA vs. AKSANA – NXT Women’s Championship Tournament match

Big “Emma” chant, but Aksana takes advantage of Emma soaking it up. Aksana with her cat prowl and a trip of covers for two counts. Aksana cuts off a comeback. Aksana controls with a head scissors, then uses the hold to slam Emma’s face into the mat. Emma slips out of a bodyslam attempt, then is able to apply the Dil-Emma for the submission win.

WINNER: Emma in 3:30. Over three minutes of Aksana offense. Yikes.

Post-match, a referee hustles some kids into the ring for a dance with Emma. Shades of Brodus Clay.

The NXT Women’s Championship bracket has Paige against Alicia Fox, and Summer Rae facing Emma in the semi-finals.

The Leo Kruger video airs yet again. He’s next.

The rarely-seen Dante Dash is already in the ring to face Leo Kruger. Apparently he used to be a linebacker at Rutgers.

(3) DANTE DASH vs. LEO KRUGER

Kruger immediately controls Dash, who eventually lands a single punch, but Kruger returns to trying to rip his arm off, then plants Dash into two different ringposts. Kruger with a clothesline called “the slice” and then the “GC3” submission for the win.

WINNER: Leo Kruger via submission in 3:00. Dash attempted a total of one offensive move, but he certainly sold the match well. Kruger has a variety of unique offensive moves now, but is it enough to revive interest in his character?

Conor O’Brian with a video talking about The Ascension in a plural again.

Mickey Keegan is already in the ring to face Bo Dallas. Didn’t he used to be Axel Keegan? Dallas comes out to the same mix of disinterest and boos that he’s gotten used to. Leo Kruger is still hiding in the corner outside the ring where he went after his match.

(4) BO DALLAS vs. MICKEY KEEGAN – non-title match

Dallas with a pair of atomic drops and a dropkick for early control. the crowd prefers to support the unknown Keegan than Dallas. Boos greet Dallas’s offense. Dallas with a belly-to-belly suplex for the win.

After his win, the lights dim and a big gold spotlight shines on Dallas as he celebrates like he just beat The Undertaker to accentuate his false sense of ego.

WINNER: Bo Dallas in 1:45.

Post-match, Kruger enters the ring to beat up Keegan a bit. Now the crowd is cheering for Kruger in a bizarre turn of events. Dallas is so hated that the crowd will cheer Kruger against him.

It’s time for the main event of Kassius Ohno and Corey Graves against Scott Dawson and Garrett Dylan. Full ring intros give the big fight feel. Sylvester LaFort cuts off Byron Saxton to introduce his team with his horrible fake accent.

(5) KASSIUS OHNO & COREY GRAVES vs. SCOTT DAWSON & GARRETT DYLAN (w/Sylvester LaFort) – #1 Contender Match for NXT Tag Team Titles

Dawson and Ohno to start, and Ohno gets the better of it. Ohno brings in Graves, who continues to work over Dawson. Graves and Ohno are working well as a coordinated team. Dawson with a big blow to Graves’s midsection to turn it around and Graves gets corner teamed.

[ Commercial Break ]

Graves is still isolated out of the break. Graves with a jawbreaker and a leaping tag to get Ohno to clean Dawson’s clock. Blind tag lets Dawson and Dylan hit their “Southern Pride” team finisher, but Graves breaks up the pin. Ohno is still struggling. “You can’t wrestle” chant to Dylan while Regal tries to defend them from his bully pulpit.

Ohno is getting desperate for a tag. Dylan with a back body drop, but Ohno tries to pull him down while on the mat. Elbow lets Ohno tag in Graves, who demolishes Dylan. Graves wraps a leg around the ropes, then leaves Dylan in a leg lock on the ropes while he tears Dyland up. Fireman’s carry to a backbreaker, but Dawson breaks up the pin. Ohno clears Dawson out and goes ringside to brawl. Graves picks the leg, then locks in Lucky 13 for a submission win.

WINNERS: Corey Graves & Kassius Ohno in 9:30. Ohno and Graves brought it, Dawson and Dylan didn’t. Watching two unique, intriguing, skilled wrestlers like Graves and Ohno have to spend most of a match getting beat up by the very green Dawson and Dylan was painful.

Post-match, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan rush the ring to take out Graves and Ohno. Graves and Ohno hold their own for a moment, but it’s just too many people to keep up. Adrian Neville runs out from the back and single-handedly takes out the entire Wyatt Family until Dawson intervenes. All of a sudden, Regal leaves the booth to lend a hand. Dawson and Dylan double up on Regal and then the Family piles on him, too. Wyatt with a huge cross-ring splash on Regal to put the exclamation point on the beat down. Great shot of Regal glaring at Wyatt while slumped on the floor. As Wyatt’s music plays, the returns to put more boots to Regal.

Final Reax: Ho-hum episode. The only really good part was the final beat down, as it brought a number of different players into the ring. Neville looked like a hero with a 30 second flurry of offense that took out all three members of The Family until Dawson intervened.
