SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Kenny Omega came under fire on Twitter this weekend after he allowed a dark match to air on Twitch between registered sex offender Chasyn Rance and Aaron Epic at the June 30 “CEO x NJPW” event in Orlando, Fla. which he ran.

After the match ended, people began tweeting to Omega about Rance’s background as a registered sex offender in Florida. Omega didn’t immediately apologize and got into verbal spats with several fans and defended the circumstances and made excuses at first. Rance owns and operates the Team Vision Dojo wrestling school, which provided a ring and crew for the event.

Omega eventually did issue a full apology for using Rance on Twitter. He called it “a terrible oversight.”

In his statement, Omega offered refunds to fans who attended the show live and were offended. He promised to be more thorough in vetting his ring crew if he runs another CEO X NJPW event in the future.

In response to another Twitter user, he said it was CEO founder Alex Jebailey that found the ring crew to work the CEO x NJPW show. Omega continues to be questioned by people on Twitter about his knowledge of Rance’s background, taking a more diplomatic tone at first.

  1. Good god so he’s a registered sex offender. He did his time and has a right to work. What the hell does a prior conviction have to do with him making a living? People hire murderers and domestic abusers but give sex offenders a hard time. Let them move on just like anyone else.
