SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

The following are highlights of Peyton Royce’s interview with KSAN 107.7 radio, as supplied to PWTorch.com by the hosts and producers…

•On the rumored backstage scene at WrestleMania 35 with Bayley and Sasha Banks: Yeah, I don’t know where some rumors come from. When we got back through the curtain they were two of the first people that we saw coming through the curtain and the four of us kind of huddled in a circle and we hugged each other, and we were all in tears. We took a photo together and it was just like a moment where we embraced each other and, you know, we had just come back from a championship match at WrestleMania. So, we were all filled with emotions, but like I said, we all embraced each other. We took photos we put on social media. So, you know, it was, it was a really good memory for Billie and me.”

•On winning the Women’s Tag Titles at WrestleMania 35: Oh my gosh, I still like get teary talking about it now, and I get goosebumps. It was an accumulation of the last 15 years that Billie and I worked together, moving forward and knocking down small goals to get to this point. It was our dream first and foremost to help pioneer the women’s tag team division, but to be on the grandest stage of them all and win them for ourselves as the second-ever champions of the division. It was the most surreal moment of my career and I don’t know if anything will be able to top it. I still watch videos of it. Fans tag me in videos on Instagram. Honestly, each week I see, I see a different angle and I just get, I just get so much happiness filled in me and I get butterflies and goosebumps all over again. I’m so thankful that we had the moment. It’s one that I will never forget.

•On being vocal about bringing a women’s tag team division back to WWE: “This was our biggest dream that Billie and I had. Honestly, since before we started with NXT. Once we did start with NXT, and we just had so much history together, and we really wanted to bring to pro wrestling and to the WWE was a women’s tag team division. I know they had it in the past, but it’s been a long time, so we really wanted to be the pioneers of this era’s women’s tag team division. That was something that we have been incredibly vocal about over the last four years when we started at NXT so to find out that we were actually going to get this division was a dream come true for us. We were so excited that it was actually coming to fruition and we are so proud to be the champions of the division at the moment.”

•On what is next for the women’s revolution in WWE: “That’s a great question because I feel like over the last four or five years the women have just been knocking down doors, and exceeding these boundaries, these limits that we’ve kind of had over the last 20 years or so. So, where the women are heading, I don’t even know, honestly, sky’s the limit. I feel like at the moment we’re having a lot of these first evers for the women, which is incredibly exciting. And I do feel like we need to sort of advertise and, hype up these first evers because it’s the next step in the evolution, but I feel like in time these incredible matches and things that they’re just going to be normal. Not “Oh, it’s the first time ever for the women, isn’t this so exciting?” It’s going to be the women are headlining WrestleMania and that’s the way it should be. You know what I mean?”
