SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

NXT ON USA – EPISODE 2
SEPTEMBER 25, 2019
WINTER PARK, FLA. AT FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY
AIRS ON USA NETWORK (HOUR 1) & WWE NETWORK (HOUR 2)

Week 2 of NXT on USA Network

Just like last week, the first hour of NXT will air on the USA Network and the second hour will air on the WWE Network. NXT will continue to air from its original home of Full Sail University as Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuiness, and Beth Phoenix will be calling the action.

After a strong week one rating, NXT will look to continue their momentum on the USA Network as Killian Dian will face Matt Riddle in Street Fight to determine the next contender for the NXT Champion and Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee will continue their on-going rivalry. Here’s what currently adversity for this week’s show.

  • Street Fight: Killian Dain vs. Matt Riddle
  • Dakota Kai returns to action
  • Dominik Dijakovic vs. Keith Lee
  • Imperium vs. Kushida & Two Mystery Opponents

Matches and Segments:

Street Fight: Killian Dain vs. Matt Riddle

After advertising a Street Fight on the WWE Network, the match between Dain and Riddle didn’t have a decisive conclusion as a huge brawl broke out which led to William Regal announcing a rematch. Regal added the winner of the match will challenge challenge Adam Cole for the NXT Championship.

Amin’s Analysis: I didn’t like how they didn’t give a finish to an advertised match, but I get why they did it because USA Network is the priority and didn’t want to blowoff a feud on the WWE Network. I like how this rivalry is completely different from everything else and I think Riddle needs a big win to establish him as a top star on NXT. It will be interesting to see when they announce this championship match because I don’t think it will be held off till TakeOver: WarGames.

Dakota Kai returns to NXT

After spending of most of 2019 out of action due to a torn ACL, the leader of Team Kick Dakota Kai returns to action.

Amin’s Analysis: I’m looking forward to seeing Dakota Kai return to action as she’s a great wrestler and is a natural babyface. It will interesting how they build up Kai’s return and who will be her first big program in her return.

Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee continue their rivalry

During their last encounter in August, Dominik Dijakovic outlasted Keith Lee in one of the best WWE TV matches of the year. Dijakovic and Lee have pushed themselves to the limit while showing off their speed, power and high-flying ability. Question is will Lee get his bounce back win and will the NXT Universe Bask in Glory?

Amin’s Analysis: This should be a great match as both Dijakovic and Lee are really talented wrestlers. I would like to see this match get some time and showcasing this match on USA Network could provide viewer a different kind of wrestling style fans don’t usually see on WWE TV. I think Lee needs a big win because he’s hasn’t had his shining moment since joining NXT.

Imperium challenges Walter to a Six-Man Tag Team Match

Imperium led by WWE United Kingdom Champion Walter made a surprise appearance at NXT last week as they attacked Denzel Dejournette who was Kushida’s scheduled opponent. Kushida took exception to Imperium taking his time as he challenged Walter. After a quick interaction with Imperium, Kushida fled from ringside. The question is who will Kushida choose as his partners against Imperium who have dominated the competition in NXT UK.

The Big Takeaway from last week’s show:

Roderick Strong won the NXT North American Title and has fulfilled the prophecy of Adam Cole of the Undisputed ERA being draped in gold. Candice LeRae won a Fatal-4-Way match and will challenge Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Title on October 2nd. Lio Rush retuned to WWE TV as he defeated Oney Lorcan to become the number one contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Title.

Closing thoughts:

Expect the first hour of NXT on USA to be another action packed edition of the show. Will be interesting if the show has either a promo segment or longer video packages to introduce people the NXT superstars who are either new or don’t want the show on a weekly basis. I would also expected the show to feature some big angle and have matches announced for next week show with NXT moving to USA Network and also with AEW TV debut on USA.
