Jonah will square off against New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Tomohiro Ishii at the Impact Wrestling Rebellion PPV event on April 23. This week on Impact television Jonah confirmed the news in a vignette. During the vignette, Jonah called the match a dream match, but said that for Ishii, it’s only reality when he’s in the ring with him.

Ishii is a former IWGP Tag Team Champion and a six-time Never Openweight Champion. He’s also been the ROH World Television Champion. Ishii recently performed in the United States on the November 17 episode of AEW Dynamite. He teamed with Orange Cassidy against The Butcher & The Blade. Cassidy and Ishii were victorious.

Jonah, formerly known as Bronson Reed in NXT, made his Impact Wrestling debut on November 21 at the Turning Point PPV event. He was released from his WWE contract in August of 2021. In addition to Impact Wrestling, Jonah has worked with New Japan Pro Wrestling, debuting at the Battle in the Valley event in November. In New Japan, Jonah has wrestled David Finlay, FinJuice is tag team matches and others. He is a former NXT North American Champion.

Rebellion will air live on Fite TV on April 23. The other announced match for the show is Moose vs. Josh Alexander for the Impact World Championship. Alexander defeated Christian Cage to win the world title at Bound For Glory last year. Seconds after the win, Moose cashed in his opportunity at the championship and beat Alexander in seconds as the show went off the air. This is Alexander’s first opportunity at the championship since that defeat.
