The Rock is slated in to work the main event of WrestleMania 39 next year in Los Angeles.

A new report by The Wrestling Observer reveals that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 is the working idea within WWE. The report indicates that The Rock is onboard with the match and that it has been the internal plan in WWE for months. At this time, nothing specific has been agreed to with The Rock and that plans could change due to Rock’s busy schedule.

The Rock last participated in regular WWE work in the lead up to WrestleMania 29 and at the event from New York. The Rock lost to John Cena for the WWE Championship in the main event. Prior to that, Rock worked two matches against C.M. Punk at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber events, respectively. After a long hiatus from the company, he returned as the special guest host of WrestleMania 27. There, he kicked off a year-long feud with Cena that culminated with a major match at WrestleMania 28. He appeared at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas and wrestled an impromptu six second match against The Wyatt Family’s, Erick Rowan.

Roman Reigns is headlining WrestleMania 38 on April 2 against Brock Lesnar. Reigns will put his WWE Universal Championship on the line and Lesnar will put his WWE Championship up for grabs. The winner will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. This will mark the sixth WrestleMania main event for Roman Reigns.
