Tony Khan reportedly had a heated discussion with MJF after MJF’s interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. The interview consisted of discussion on MJF’s contract with AEW, free agency, WWE, and more.

Fightful Select is reporting that Khan was upset that the interview didn’t take shape via traditional AEW public relations channels. The report indicated that both Khan and MJF were frustrated after the conversation and that MJF has been frustrated about his AEW contract situation as well.

MJF is currently embroiled in a feud with Wardlow in AEW. Wardlow turned on MJF at AEW Revolution during the MJF vs. Punk Dog Collar Match. Punk was victorious after Wardlow handed him MJF’s AEW ring to use as a weapon. Two week’s ago on AEW Dynamite, MJF cost Wardlow the TNT Championship and last week on the show, he vowed to make Wardlow’s life a living hell.

Tony Khan purchased Ring of Honor at the beginning of March ahead of the Revolution PPV. His first PPV event as owner of the company is Friday April 1 with Supercard of Honor. That show is headlined by Jonathan Gresham vs. Bandido for the Undisputed ROH World Championship.

MJF is reportedly signed to AEW until the end of 2023. He was an early signee to the company, officially locking in a contract on January 7 of 2019. MJF has had notable AEW feuds with Chris Jericho, Cody, Punk, Darby Allin, and others. He’s the leader of The Pinnacle faction with FTR and Shawn Spears.
