Triple H made a surprise appearance and opened up night two of WrestleMania 38.

His music hit and the audience roared before he stood on the top of the ramp to soak the reaction in. Triple H, decked out in a suit, walked to the ring and slapped hands with Gable Steveson before he did his full water spitting entrance.

The audience kept the cheers going as he picked up a microphone. As the reaction calmed, Triple H said he wanted to come out and say thank you. He said that he only knew one way to show the fans his love and then loudly welcomed the crowd to WrestleMania. Pyro went off in the arena and Triple H then left his boots in the ring, a tradition ahead of retirement.

Triple H announced last week that he was retiring from in-ring competition. He suffered a major cardiac incident in September of last year and hasn’t been involved in WWE programming since. This was his first in-ring appearance since the health issue.

Triple H is a former world champion and a member of the WWE Hall of Fame with D-Generation X. Even though he’s no longer wrestling, he confirmed that he would still remain a part of the WWE Corporate Office as an Executive VP of Global Talent Strategy and Development. He has been leading the NXT developmental system. In September of 2021, NXT rebranded to NXT 2.0 and sported an entirely different look and feel than when he ran things.
