SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Bron Breakker is the new NXT Champion.

Breakker lost his NXT Championship match to champion, Dolph Ziggler, at Saturday’s NXT Stand and Deliver event. This week on Monday Night Raw, Breakker was given another opportunity at the title and was victorious after a spear and military press powerslam.

Breakker is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner. He made his NXT debut on the very first episode of NXT 2.0 and has been positioned as the top act in the post Triple H, black and gold era of the brand.

Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa to win his first NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil in January of this year. Breakker would lose the title in a triple threat match with both Ciampa and Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler won the title after pinning Ciampa. On the subject of winning his first NXT Championship, Breakker said it was surreal in an interview with CBS Sports. “It was a surreal moment,” Breakker said. “I’ll remember that for the rest of my life. It was just unbelievable.”

In addition to being in the main event of Stand and Deliver during this year’s WrestleMania weekend, he inducted The Steiner Brothers into the Class of 2022 Hall of Fame on Friday night after WWE Smackdown. The Undertaker headlined this year’s class.

In early March, it was reported that Breakker was on the fast track to the WWE main roster. There is no indication that Breakker’s appearance this week was a permanent call-up to the main roster.
