SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Lacey Evans is reportedly set to return to WWE on this week’s episode of Smackdown.

PWInsider is reporting that Evans is scheduled to be at the Smackdown tapings on Friday night. Evans has not been seen on WWE television since leaving the company to have a baby in February of 2021.

Before her departure, Evans was embroiled in a feud with Charlotte Flair, with Ric Flair involved on the side. Since her call up to the main roster in 2019, Evans has hovered around the women’s world title picture. Evans was the first feud for Becky Lynch after Lynch won the Raw Women’s Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 35. They competed in a match for the title at Money in the Bank and then again at Stomping Grounds. Evans team with Baron Corbin to face Lynch and then WWE Universal Champion, Seth Rollins in an Extreme Rules Tag Team Match at the Extreme Rules PPV event. Rollins and Lynch won that match.

Evans signed with WWE in 2016. She appeared in the first Mae Young Classic tournament and also was part of the first women’s match to ever take place in Saudi Arabia. Evans wrestled Natalya at Crown Jewel and lost the match. Before leaving to have her baby, Evans was scheduled to face Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at the 2021 Elimination Chamber event.

The report does not indicate what Evans may be doing on the show or what slot she’ll fall into once returning to the roster. Charlotte Flair is still the WWE Smackdown Champion, so WWE has that loose end to go with if they choose to.
