Austin Theory is now going by “Theory” on Monday Night Raw. Theory also will get a shot at the WWE United States Championship match next week.

On this week’s episode of Raw, Theory stormed into the offices of Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville, demanding to know when he would get his shot at the United States Championship. Pearce and Deville told him he was deserving of the opportunity and called him by his first name while speaking. Theory jumped in and corrected them, saying that he and Mr. McMahon decided that it would be better to just be called Theory.

Pearce and Deville obliged and then told Theory that he would face Finn Balor with Balor’s US title on the line next week on Raw.

Theory has been attached to Vince McMahon since the end of 2021, with McMahon serving as a mentor to Theory since Survivor Series. Under McMahon’s leadership, Theory defeated Balor in two straight non-title matches to earn his shot at the title.

Theory wrestled at his first WrestleMania at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas. Alongside McMahon, Theory faced Pat McAfee, but lost the match. After, Theory helped McMahon take McAfee out ahead of an impromptu match with McMahon himself. McMahon got the victory in that match, but Steve Austin walked out and gave Stunners to both McMahon and Theory.

Theory joined WWE in 2019 and debuted initially on the NXT brand. There, he worked with Johnny Gargano inside The Way before being called up to the main roster in October of 2021.
