Next week’s episode of Smackdown will feature a WWE Intercontinental Championship Match, a cage match, and a beat the clock challenge.

During this week’s show, Ricochet was confronted by Shankey backstage during an interview. Shankey said he wanted a shot at Ricochet’s Intercontinental Championship, and Ricochet accepted right away. Later in the show, the match was made official and announced on WWE social media.

A beat the clock challenge will also take place during Smackdown next week. Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair will each wrestle matches and try to win them in less time than the other. Both women will square off in an “I Quit” Match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash.

In the main event of this week’s show, Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn in a Lumberjack Match after Zayn found a way to escape the ringside area. As Zayn ran away, Adam Pearce walked onto the stage and told Zayn that he’d face McIntyre in a cage match next week.

WrestleMania Backlash will air live on Peacock on Sunday May 8. Matches on the show include Rousey vs. Flair, Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins, A.J. Styles vs. Edge, and more.
