SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Asuka is reportedly set to make her return to WWE television and her appearance could be imminent.

Fightful is reporting that Asuka could make her return to the company as early as this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Current creative plans have her tangling with Becky Lynch in what is expected to be a short feud. The report indicates that a variety of different creative pitches were tossed out regarding how to bring the former champions back into the fold.

Asuka has not competed since Money in the Bank last year. On that show, she wrestled in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match that was won by Nikki A.S.H. Nikki cashed in her contract on Monday Night Raw the night after the show to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

Asuka was a central at during the pandemic era of WWE. During that time, she held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and was the Raw Women’s Champion. Asuka won the women’s Money in the Bank “Climb the Corporate” Ladder Match at Money in the Bank 2020. The match took place inside and on top of WWE headquarters. Asuka’s win was emphasized with a twist. Rather than earn an opportunity to fight for a championship of her choosing, Asuka was awarded the Raw Women’s Championship outright because Becky Lynch vacated the belt due to taking a hiatus from the company to focus on having her child. Asuka held on to the championship until WrestleMania 37 where she lost the title to Rhea Ripley.

In addition to holding the Raw and Tag Team women’s titles, Asuka is also a former Smackdown Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Champion.
