SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Former WWE star C.M. Punk went on the “MMA Hour” with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani on Monday afternoon to discuss his UFC training and other topics.

Punk noted that he is still determined to have his first UFC fight despite an injury setback. Punk said he suffered a shoulder injury in August, but has improved since then.

Punk said he wanted to keep the injury under wraps so people did not start doubting that he would make his UFC debut, as it’s not as serious as originally believed.

Right now, Punk is not going to make his UFC debut in 2015. Punk said he and his coaches at Roufusport will re-assess where he is physically and in his MMA training in January, then make a decision.

“I know I’m going to get my day in the Octagon and I’m going to have fun doing it,” Punk said.

Punk was defiant toward critics, both MMA purists who believe he should not be fighting and pro wrestling fans who believe that Punk left them.
