Global Force Wrestling announced Tuesday a partnership with a college football bowl game for the 2016 bowl season.

GFW and the Nashville-based Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl agreed to a deal for the GFW roster to present live pro wrestling to the bowl teams prior to their game.

The bowl game takes place on December 30 and the GFW roster will give the two teams a night of wrestling during the week of bowl activities leading up to the game.

“This is innovative and something that will be memorable for the players and we are excited about the partnership with Global Force Wrestling,” said bowl president Scott Ramsey. “Jeff Jarrett is a Middle Tennessee native, and we know he has been in the wrestling business for decades. We are confident that this event will be one of the highlights of a great week of events that culminates with the 19th annual Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.”

“They approached Global Force with the idea of giving the players something different than any other bowl game,” said Jeff Jarrett. “And I think it’s a perfect fit. Males 18 to 24 are a huge part of our demographic, and we’ll be as hyped to put on a great show as they will be to see one.”

Jarrett also noted GFW will be keeping their eyes on the football players to potentially recruit to wrestling.

“There are a lot of ties between football and wrestling. So many great football players at the collegiate level have come into the ring and been successful when they put the cleats away. Who knows, we might have a future wrestling superstar in the crowd that night,” Jarrett said.

The Music City Bowl is scheduled for December 30 on ESPN featuring teams from the SEC and Big 10 or ACC to be determined after the college football season.

  1. No it’s one of those things that two smaller companies can work together and try something different. I think RAW from 2006 is on. Ya better go watch it bro. #negativefanssuck
