SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

If C.M. Punk fights again professionally, UFC president Dana White says it probably should not be in UFC.

White told Fight Network’s John Pollock following UFC 203 that he gave Punk an opportunity and now if he wants to fight again, he probably needs to take a step back.

“He probably shouldn’t have his next fight in UFC. Just like I said with Brock (Lesnar), having your first fight in UFC is tough. And you see tonight even if it’s against a guy who’s just 2-0. This is a tough place to learn,” White said of Punk following his decisive First Round loss to Mickey Gall.

Overall, White said he likes and respects Punk, and he doesn’t view Punk’s debut fight as an experiment that backfired. “He wanted to give it a shot. I gave him his shot,” White said.
