NOTE: Big thanks to PWTorch’s Joshua White for filling in for me last week with his written report.

[HOUR ONE]

-Michael Cole introduced the show as the showed an image of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. Then they showed the view of Seattle from the space needle and then Climate Pledge Arena. He hyped the key matches and appearances including Penta vs. Original El Grande Americano for his newly won IC Title. They showed Penta. Then they showed Asuka and Kairi Sane chatting. Asuka looked a bit distressed. Iyo Sky was seen in the background spying on them. Then they showed Oba Femi as Cole called him “the hot free agent.” They showed his scheduled opponent, Rusev next. Then they showed C.M. Punk on his phone smiling in a good-natured way as if hearing a funny story, absolute proof he isn’t miserable at work as Roman Reigns said last week.

-A video package aired on last week’s happenings with The Vision and G.M. Adam Pearce with the returning Seth Rollins attacking Paul Heyman with a chair and a stomp.

-Pearce stood mid-ring and said he had some unfortunate business to tend to. He said it’s someone who has made himself well-known over the last month or so. He said he knew he was in the building. He called him to the ring. A man in mask ran to the announce desk and stood on it. Corey Graves made a cartoonish fearful expression. Suddenly over a dozen masked men in black surrounded the ring. Fans chanted, “Holy shit!” Cole asked, “Is one of them Seth.” They all gathered and then ran into the ring and ran around like playing pinball with all the balls in play at once. Then Seth took off his hood and stood alone. Fans cheered a bit.

Pearce said they’ve known each other a long time and “I didn’t need any of that.” He said he doesn’t like The Vision. Fans sang Seth’s song for a few seconds. Pearce said it’s not his job to like or dislike people; it’s his job to run Raw. He said what he’s been doing with the black masks is unacceptable. He said The Vision deserves it, but Seth had surgery less than five months ago, and thus what he’s doing is dangerous. He said he’s avoided injury so far, but what happens when it doesn’t.

Pearce said they should come to an agreement. He said if The Vision gets their hands on him, it’s the end of Seth. Seth stared him down. The Vision’s theme played and Austin Theory and Logan Paul walked out. Logan said ending Seth is a matter of when, not if, and that when is now. Theory said there’s a bullet with his name on it and it doesn’t matter how many masked idiots he’s got, they’re not saving him. He said: “Consider this: Worst Case Scenario.” He dropped the mic and hopped on the ring apron. The other masked men jumped into the ring. Seth masked up. They scrambled so it wsan’t clear where Seth was, and then they bailed out and left. Cole said Seth anticipated The Vision and made that plan. Fans chanted, “Logan sucks!” L.A. Knight’s music played.

Knight made his way out. He knocked Logan down at ringside and then went after Theory. Logan entered and bashed Knight. The Usos music played and they came out. Graves noted The Vision were now outnumbered. A fan held up a sign that said, “My last Raw before deployment.” Logan and Theory retreated. Jey called for his music to play and then they danced with the crowd.

(Keller’s Analysis: At some point, The Vision could be just Theory or Logan at this point. In any case, this was a solid segment. The chaos of all the masked men at first felt pointless, but it made sense at the end when Seth found a way to hide amongst them since he’s alone.) [c]

-Cole plugged WWE video games.

-Backstage, Jackie Redmond caught up to the Usos and said it seems they’re on the same side as Seth and Knight. Jey said he doesn’t give a damn about Seth. He said Theory and Logan are the same to him “and they need to get got.” She asked if he had anything to say to C.M. Punk about what he said regarding his family. Jey said no. Jimmy said maybe they do, but then didn’t say anything.

(1) LYRA VALKYRIA vs. IYO SKY vs. IVY NILE vs. ASUKA vs. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ vs. BAYLEY – Gauntlet Match to Earn an Intercontinental Title match

(a) Lyra Valkyria vs. Iyo Sky

Cole said this was the first women’s Gauntlet match in over four years. The bell rang 20 minutes into the hour. Sky dove onto Lyra at ringside at 2:00. Lyra shoved Sky throat-first over the top rope and then wrecking ball kicked her to ringside. They cut to a break at 3:00 as Lyra celebrated. [c]

Sky countered a Night Wing with a stomp to the chest followed by a kick and then a Over the Moonsault for the win.

ELIMINATED: Valkyria in 9:00.

(b) Iyo Sky vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel drew gasps as she shoulder-checked herself into Sky and tossed her across the ring. Sky rolled to the floor and they cut to a break. [c]

Back from the break, Sky rallied. She played to the crowd and then charged at Raquel in the corner. She then went back to the top rope. LIv Morgan jumped onto the ring apron. Raquel shoved Sky off the top rope as the ref was preoccupied with Liv. Stephanie Vaquer ran out and yanked Liv away from the ring and dragged her backstage. Sky leaped off the top rope and caught Raquel with a leaping inside cradle for the three count.

Raquel knocked Sky over the top rope afterward and then threw her like a dart into the ringpost.

ELIMINATED: Raquel in 16:00.

(c) Iyo Sky vs. Ivy Nile

Nile ran out and covered Sky for a three count.

ELIMINATED: Sky in 17:00.

(d) Ivy Nile vs. Bayley

Bayley checked on Sky at ringside. Sky was flat on her stomach. Nile attacked Bayley and threw her into the ringside steps. She then flexed her arms as they cut to a break. [c]

Bayley and Nile battled back and forth after the break. Nile knocked Bayley off balance on the top rope at 26:00. She landed a superplex. Cole called it “a weird landing” as Bayley’s boots hit the mat way before her body. Nile landed a swinging uranage. Bayley rolled to ringside.

Nile blocked a move by Bayley in the ring and kicked her to the floor. Bayley landed a leaping elbow to Nile’s chest on the edge of the ring apron. Back in the ring she landed a Belly-to-Bayley.

ELIMINATED: Nile in 27:00.

(e) Bayley vs. Asuka (w/Kairi Sane)

Bayley leaped thorugh the ropes and tackled Asuka. Asuka grabbed her jaw afterward. Bayley threw her into the ring. Kairi provided an obstacle to her momentum and then Asuka snuck in a kick to drop Bayley. They cut to an immediate break. [c]

When Kairi went after Bayley at ringside, Lyra ran out and dropkicked Kairi hard into the ring apron. Bayley then rallied against Asuka in the ring, but Asuka caught her leaping off the top rope with an Asuka lock. Bayley struggled and leveraged Asuka’s shoulders down. Bayley then hit the Rose Plant for the win.

Asuka was upset with Kairi. Lyra, in contrast, congratulated Bayley.

WINNER: Bayley in 37:00 to earn the IC Title.

(Keller’s Analysis: Not every segment was electric, and the crowd seemed passive at times but not necessarily disengaged, but all in all, it filled a long stretch of time well and the booking made sense in terms of matching the various characters involved. A good win for Bayley.)

-A video recap aired of the Roman Reigns-C.M. Punk verbal battle last week on Raw. They closed with Punk’s comment to Reigns that he’d bury him next to his father.

[HOUR TWO]

-Cole plugged that Punk would speak later on Raw. [c]

-An updated aired on the WWE Hall of Fame including Undertaker talking with Demolition.

-A clip aired with Natalya being attacked on the stage by Maxxine Dupri.

-Danhausen approached Original El Grande Americano backstage. He wanted to try on his mask. Americano told him the first rule is don’t touch a Luchador’s mask. He told him to leave Danhausen cursed him. Americano uttered “cursed” like he was dismissing it, but also that it got in his head a bit. In the distant background, other Americanos were lurking.

-During Penta’s entrance, Cole said you can feel the love fans have for him during his entrances. He thanked fans for believing in him. He said the title is for everyone who didn’t give up on their dreams. He said the title is the result of a lot of hard work and sacrifice. He spoke in Spanish after that for a while.

Instead of Original El Grande (allegedly Chad Gable), the second El Grande Americano came out (allegedly Ludwig Kaiser)

(3) PENTA vs. ORIGINAL EL GRANDE AMERICANO – Intercontinental Title match

The match was joined in progress after the break 18 minutes into the hour. Cole said they didn’t know what happened to the Original. Graves said it appeared he was cursed by Danhausen. Cole told Graves his wife curses him all the time. Graves told Cole to leave his wife out of it.

Penta strutted a bit and then chopped Americano in hte corner. Americano took over afterward and got in sustained offense. Penta took over at 2:00 and then dove through the ropes. Americano punched him out of mid-air. They cut to a break as the ref checked on Penta at ringside and Americano posed in front of the IC Title belt. [c]

Penta caught Americano leaping off the top rope with a meteora. He followed with a springboard Penta Driver for the win.

WINNER: Penta in about 10:00 to retain the Intercontinental Title.

-A vignette aired with Liv Morgan with captions, looking back at Liv’s start. She said she can see everything she has learned training with the best. She said what bothers her most is her stupid laugh. She said she hides behind “a trashy man” as they showed an image of Dominik Mysterio. She said “mud huts” made her who she is. She said she was forged in hell, Liv was brought up with privilege. She said they each took different roads, but they both have the skill to deserve to be there. She said Liv, though, has become busy. “The funny thing is, Liv, I can see more in you than you see in yourself,” she said. She said she sees herself as a dumb blonde so she takes shortcuts. She said at WrestleMania, she will bring the blood, sweat, and all her experience and use it to continue making history.

(Keller’s Analysis: Very well done. This is a good formula for Vaquer.)

-Liv was ranting to J.D. McDonaugh and Raquel. “She says I hide behind my friends,” she ranted. “At least I have friends.” Dom barged in and asked if they’ve seen Finn. J.D. said he’d go find him. Dom said he was heading to the ring to get something off his chest. [c]

-They showed Jose Valenzuela, a boxer with Zuffa Boxing. They showed some Seattle Seahawks with their WWE replica belts.

-Dom walked out with Liv and Raquel. He insisted he should still be champion and he should have had the rematch tonight. He said it’s Balor’s fault. He said he didn’t want to air their dirty laundry publicly, but he couldn’t find him. He called him. Finn Balor came out to the ring with J.D. to his theme song. Dom asked Balor if he has anything to say.

Balor said regarding last week, Dom would indeed still be IC Champ if not for him. “For that, I am sorry,” he said. (This sure isn’t charitable to Penta.) He said he was trying to teach Dom a lesson. He said Judgment Day is a family and they’ll always have his back. He said Dom told him he wants to be the greatest Mysterio of all time, and he can be, but to be the greatest of anything of all-time, sometimes you have to fight your own battles.

Balor sid for two years he’s been trying to guide him, but the longest he tries, the more he has realized maybe his dad was right and he is “just a spoiled little [bleeped].” Dom shoved Balor. J.D. tried to calm Balor. Balor caught Dom with a Pelé kick. Raquel held Liv back and then J.D. pulled Balor away from Dom. Dom charged, but Balor hit a Slingblade. Cole said Dom snapped. J.D. then intercepted Balor with a clothesline as he charged at Dom. Fans booed.

Liv then punched away at Balor. Raquel, J.D., and Dom joined in. Cole said Balor didn’t deserve that. Dom grabbed a chair at ringside and the bell hammer. Balor kicked Dom and broke free from J.D., but then Dom hit Balor with the hammer. Dom loaded his boot with the hammer and hit Balor with a 619. Dom leaped off the top rope with a frog splash onto Balor as the other three watched. Dom gave J.D. a chair and jabbed Balor with it three times. Dom then frog splashed the chair. [c]

-They replayed clips of the previous angle.

-Backstage Pearce told Le’Von Evans that this is going to be a huge year for him. Evans said he wouldn’t let him down. Kofi Kingston and Grayson Waller walked up to him. Kofi asked Waller to give him a chance to talk to Kofi alone. Kofi apologized for last week. He said he sees a lot of himself in him. He said he used to be that young kid doing moves no one else did. He said he took and became WWE Champion. He said Evans can reach that level, too, but he needs the right team around him. When Evans seemed skeptical, Kofi told him not to think he has to do it alone. In the background, Asuka was still scolding Kairi.

-Redmond told Bayley she was so happy for her. Lyra was with Bayley. Bayley was all smiles and pumped. She told Lyra she couldn’t have done it without her, but said maybe she could have. Lyra said she should be the next IC Champion. Bayley said A.J. Lee is a legend and without her, some of them wouldn’t be there. She said it’s a title she hasn’t been able to win yet but she’s wanted to since it was established. She told Lyra she might be first in line if she wins.

-Oba Femi made his entrance. [c]

(4) RUSEV vs. OBA FEMI

Rusev made his entrance next. Cole said this is the biggest test of Femi’s career yet. The bell rang 58 minutes into the hour. They battered each other with wild swings. Rusev got the advantage at ringside.

[HOUR THREE]

Back in the ring, Femi caught a charging Rusev with an elbow and tossed him across the ring. He followed with his Fall from Grace for the win.

WINNER: Femi in 3:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: Rusev comes across as someone who doesn’t endear confidence in those who book him as he’s continually underutlized. This could have been built up into something more and meant more.)

-They went to Cole and Graves at ringside. After a plug for WrestleMania, they hyped next week’s Raw featuring the return of Brock Lesnar to see if anyone answers his open challenge. Also, A.J. Lee vs. Bayley, Original El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano, and Roman Reigns appears.

-C.M. Punk made his entrance. [c]

-Punk stood in the ring and said he wasn’t sure what the temperature was going to be for him in the room after last week. He mentioned the Super Bowl champion Seahawks. He said he thought people were upset with him for disrespecting Roman last week. He said he knows for sure that Roman has never disrespected him once in his career. An “OTC!” chant rang out. Punk said, “I don’t know, hold your breath, he might show up.” He paused and soaked up a mixed response, mostly cheers. A “C.M. Punk!” chant started.

Punk said Reigns has never respected him, but he will force him to. He said titles in sports are made to find out who the best is, those best go on to defend their championships. He said the World Title was created because Roman shunned his championship responsibilities and refused to defend his titles. He said fans deserve a fighting champion.

He said when he defends his title, his opponents have to level up. He said that applies to verbal sparring. He said he will leave you dumbfounded and slackjawed. He said he did that Roman last week. He said last week he lowered himself to Roman’s level. He was interrupted by Uso’s theme. “This could be interesting,” said Cole.

Jimmy stared at Punk as Jey paced. Jey insisted Punk “apologize right now.” Punk asked why Roman was sending his cousins to the ring. Jimmy said this doesn’t have anything to do with Roman, but rather respect. He said they’re face-to-face out of respect. He called him Phil. He said he has respect for his character, speaking from his heart, and going through obstacles. He said he calls himself the voice of the voiceless. He said Punk disrespected their late uncle “who has no voice.” He told him to apologize.

Punk stared at Jimmy. “You’re right,” he said. He said Jey was coming in a little hot. He said he’s not spiritual, but if they believe he can hear them, he hopes that hears him say this. “We’re friends and your entire family and me go back a lot longer than people realize.” He said he knew Afa better than Sika. He said he sat under the Wild Samoan’s learning tree. He said it was a thrill to get to sit in the back of a pickup truck with Samu and have him drop knowledge on him. He said he respects everyone in his family and they all have shown him respect, “except that one son of a bitch.”

Punk said if he thinks Sika heard that, then you believe he can see. He said he can see what a lying, conniving, backstabbing, manipulative, gaslighting, egotistical, narcissistic, plastic politician Roman Reign is.”

Jey said this isn’t about Roman. He yelled, “We need you to say ‘I’m sorry.’!” After a dramatic pause, fans chanted, “Say you’re sorry!” Punk soaked up the moment and then shook hands with Jimmy and said, “I’m sorry.” He did the same to Jey. Punk added, “I’m sorry that Roman Reigns treated the two of you and the rest of his family like garbage for years and never once came out here and apologized.” He said he’s sorry Roman disrespected Dusty Rhodes, the father of his friend Cody, when he called him irrelevant, but he’s not on the hook for apologizing. He said he’s sorry Roman has tricked the Samoan family and the fans that he gives a single damn about any of them. “Because if he did, if he cared about you or the people or me or this company or this business, I’d be standing in the ring talking to him right now instead of his young boys.” He shoved the mic at Jey. Jimmy punched Punk with the mic and knocked him down. Jimmy held back Jey.

(Keller’s Analysis: The closing line last week felt forced, but now we see it was laying the groundwork for this.)
