We will be featuring similar features on other promotions each week and each will be updated weekly.

•Top Stories of the Week

-The big news this week is not a new issue for ROH. As long as the company has been in existence, top talent have used the company as a stepping stone to greater opportunities. Professional wrestling became a pop culture stable in the United States, so ROH could be a small analogy for the greater, romanticized, idea of the American Dream.

Speaking of an American Dream, PWTorch VIP analyst Todd Martin confirms WrestlingInc’s original correspondent report that Cody annonced on Chris Jericho’s cruise earlier this week that he would not be signing with WWE or be a surprise entrant in the 2019 Royal Rumble. Cody also said that he would do everything in his power to bring an All In 2 to his fans. While on the surface this would appear to be a win in ROH’s quest to resign Cody, Cody tweeted the following in regards to facing Nick Aldis for a third time at the ROH/NJPW’s G1 Supercard.

Also this week the Wrestling Observer reported that Cody’s ROH contract is over as of midnight on Oct. 31. The Jericho cruise is reportedly his last contractual obligation with ROH. However, he is expected to wrestle with the company through January in order to keep his options open with the rest of “The Elite.”

•Closing Commentary

Due to the unsavory and morally reprehensible decision by the WWE to continue on with their show in Saudi Arabia, I have been thinking about women in professional wrestling. Of the most followed promotions in the United States (WWE, New Japan, ROH, and Impact), who is doing the best job making the most out of their female performers?

New Japan does not have any female talent, so they’re not in the discussion, obviously. WWE just had an all-women’s PPV, but the ongoing issue with Crown Jewel remains to put them in a negative light in regards to overall human rights. The fact that have ran two shows in six months at a place where women are not allowed to perform is unacceptable.

Impact is a tale of two women. Its champion is Tessa Blanchard and she is what most fans see as the future of women’s wrestling, a type of wrestling that puts women as equals to their male counterparts. However, its other female star Scarlett Bordeaux tends to bring us back to the “bra and panties match” era of women’s wrestling.

That leaves us with ROH. ROH has not had a televised women’s match on TV for six weeks. The last match on TV was a quick and forgettable match. Overall it feels like ROH wants to look like they respect women’s wrestling and want to look progressive in that regard. However, that is simply not the fact. Women need to be given time and stories in order to become stars. ROH needs to start working hard on getting the Women of Honor on every TV episode and have matches that people sign up to Honor Club to see.
