“FAIRWELL TO THE GODDESS”

I was mentally preparing myself for weeks to say goodbye to Asuka. Her undefeated streak and now legendary title run will be one of those classic stories that will be retold about the early days of NXT, and how for over 500 days she was the most dominant athlete on the roster.

Tonight, Asuka gives her farewell to the NXT brand as she prepares to move on to the main roster, still unbeaten. Expect to see the likes of Triple-H and William Regal, as well as the entire locker room wish her the best.

What that means for her vacated championship remains up in the air. Most likely, it will go to the winner of the Mae Young Classic (which you can watch on the WWE Network for an undisclosed price). How Ruby Riot, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon, and the rest of the women’s division responds will be the real question. If that doesn’t happen though, we could be seeing another tournament scheduled for Wednesday nights, especially considering the number of new female athletes that the WWE has already signed. I haven’t been this excited about the women’s division since the Four Horsewomen were stealing the show every week.

THEM FIGHTING WORDS”

For the second time in as many weeks Drew McIntyre has been laid out by Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly. This new world order of NXT isn’t planning on letting their presence be overlooked by anything, especially the new World Champion. Fish and O’Reilly didn’t even let new tag champs SANITY make it into the building before they gave them a slew of fists and headaches. How much longer will Commissioner William Regal allow these rebels to run rampant on his show? Will Eric Young and the rest of his posse be ready to throw down with the reDRagon? My guess is…ABSO…LUTELY.

Meanwhile Roderick Strong finally vanquished his most recent Glorious nemesis to Tuesday nights. With a massive victory last week, Roddy looks to remain in the title picture. That is, if the big Scotsman isn’t sent to the hospital by Cole and company first.

SET THE TONE”

-Kassius Ohno hasn’t had the most successful return to the WWE. He was left off the last two Takeover cards and his most recent in-ring brawl ended with him getting put to sleep by Hideo Itami. (Hideo cheated, but whatever – a fight is a fight.) Kassius looks for retribution and has challenged Hideo to a No DQ match for this evening.

-Andrade Cien Almas has a new found confidence thanks to his valet Zelina Vega. He faces off against Cezar Bononi in a rematch from a few tapings ago. Cien’s focus wasn’t nearly as centered as it is now. Pray for Cezar.

-Speaking of praying, Lars Sullivan is a giant man with a lot of anger. He’s already attacked No Way Jose, and judging from his attitude, he’ll be dishing out some more pain tonight.

-Billie Kaye and Peyton Royce are still around, and their relationship is as close as it will ever be. Their current pet project… Ruby Riot. Ruby ate a loss last week to the duo. Can she recover?

A strong lineup, headlined by what will be a VERY emotional send off. I’m not crying… YOU’RE CRYING.
