SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Monday’s Labor Day edition of WWE Monday Night Raw drew a 2.09 rating, down from the prior two weeks of 2.23 and 2.29. The Labor Day edition last year drew a 2.11 rating after having drawn 2.38 and 2.3r ratings the prior two weeks, so the dropoff this year was less but the final rating was lower.

The rating was just a bit below the 2.12 average so far for 2017, and below the ten week rolling average of 2.13.

The biggest stats of the show is the dropoff from the first hour to the third hour – 319,000. That is above the 233,000 average this year, and above the 221,000 and 200,000 the prior two weeks. So the Big Show vs. Braun Strowman match wasn’t enough to hold the audience more than usual.

They drew 3.07 million first hour viewers, 2.98 million second hour viewers, and 2.75 million third hour viewers.

Keller’s Analysis: It’s never fair to draw many conclusions from a holiday rating, but the loss of viewers during the show has to be a little disappointing to WWE.

  1. It’s easy to point to the loss of viewers – they spent too much time tying to hype the steel cage match throughout the show instead of focusing on other talent and more story lines. Don’t get me started on how much time was wasted on Enzo yapping about nothing again and another multi-man 205 match that means nothing. No one would actually believe that Big Show would win and why would Brock make a surprise appearance when that lazy ass barely does anything on TV as it is?
