The news of the death of Pac, which came late last night, was a gut punch to wrestling fans. How are we, how are his friends and colleagues, supposed to process the death of someone […]
Intentional or not, WWE is setting up both its Men’s and Women’s Money in the Bank matches to be a changing of the guard. Usually in these style of matches, WWE evens the playing field […]
WWE deserves a lot of credit for their booking of Monday Night Raw last night in Mexico City, the first time their flagship show has broadcast from the country in 15 years. The fans, as […]
The final episode of Dynamite before AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In, has aired. Most of the hype is over. With the PPV back at Wembley Stadium, AEW is anticipating somewhere in the […]
The opening segment of Smackdown this past Friday has garnered almost universal praise in all corners of the internet, a rare feat for something from WWE programming these days. I concur with the sentiment that […]
PWTorch editor Wade Keller and I spent a lot of time on the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast Flagship this week discussing the two-night Summerslam card and how the matches were split up into night […]
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite was the last chance AEW had to sell a large portion of its audience on a new pay-per-view, Redemption, taking place this Sunday. Much of the build on TV since Forbidden Door […]
It’s hard to believe that one of the biggest pops on TV and at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view was for Lio Rush’s new Gollum-like character. In some ways, this character is everything AEW isn’t. While […]
What’s going on in TNA? Last week in this space, I wrote about the departure of Steve Maclin, a main event-level wrestler in the company. Maclin left of his own volition, and was followed this […]
Steve Maclin has requested his release from TNA. That’s a big name to leave TNA of his own volition, having just recently been in the main event scene challenging TNA Champion Mike Santana (who himself could […]
The result of the Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar match at Clash in Italy set up real question marks for the two in the upcoming months, leading into WWE’s next major event, Summerslam, in early […]
The WWE’s Gingerbread Man storyline involving Sami Zayn and Trick Williams was absurdist fare at the highest level. In the opinion of many, it had not place in professional wrestling. But I liked it. And […]
When John Cena began his United States Title Open Challenge back in 2015, I thought it was a novel idea and a good one to help raise the prestige of the secondary championship by defending […]
There’s nothing inherently wrong with booking babyfaces to overcome odds, sometimes even injuries, to emerge victorious. It’s when that card is played too often that it becomes a problem. AEW has this issue with its […]
While the Raw after Mania was relatively humdrum compared to similar episodes in the past, the show ended with a bang when Jacob Fatu came out to challenge his cousin, Roman Reigns, for Roman’s newly-won […]
Last night’s AEW Dynamite introduced New Japan’s United Empire group into AEW canon when they came to the aid of their former leader, Will Ospreay, as he fended off an attack from the Death Riders. The leader […]
On Smackdown Friday night, Sami Zayn won the United States Championship from Carmelo Hayes, setting Sami up for a WrestleMania showdown with Trick Williams over the title. Or is it? Sami now holds the weight […]
In WWE’s infinite wisdom, they decided to turn Randy Orton heel and keep Cody Rhodes babyface heading into their WrestleMania showdown – in other words, the exact opposite scenario I’ve argued for both in my […]
So… what’s next for “Hangman” Adam Page? Hangman’s Texas Death Match loss to MJF on Sunday in the main event of AEW Revolution leaves Hangman, per the stipulation, unable to challenge for the World Title […]
While WWE’s main product feels cold heading into the biggest show of the year, WrestleMania, the company’s developmental arm is mirroring the creative malaise of its parents, Raw and Smackdown. Nothing exemplified that more than […]
Earlier this week on the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast weekly Flagship episode, I noted to Wade that I didn’t believe Kenny Omega or Swerve Strickland would turn in their Dynamite match that was set […]
In just a few short weeks, AEW has found themselves with an embarrassment of riches in the main event scene and specifically, those in line to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship. On Dynamite […]
I knew there was a swerve coming. I was just wrong about who was swerving who. Ever since the Johnny “Dango” Curtis (JDC) retirement storyline began in mid-November, I smelled a rat. It was too […]
Thursday was a new era for TNA as it aired its first episode of Impact on AMC, and yet, it was also very much the same old TNA. The “LOLTNA” meme has perhaps never been […]
