WWE House Show Report
November 4, 2002
Bangor, Maine
Report by Atticus Mulready, PWTorch.com correspondent

The show was very good from the WWE, but a disappointing showing from the folks in Bangor. The arena was about half-full and those that were there lacked enthusiasm.

(1) Crash Holly & Sean O’Haire beat Bull Buchanan & Doug Basham. Not too much to get excited about here. Buchanan has a different look, but is still saddled with being himself.

(2) Val Venis beat Shelton Benjamin. Good action from these two. Shelton has some potential and drew some good heat from the crowd.

(3) Albert beat Rikishi. A weird ending when Rikishi was apparently injured after a botched scissors kick by Albert. It appeared that when Albert’s foot came down it caught Rikishi in the nose or occipital bone. The match did restart after Rikishi appeared to be okay and gave Albert the stinkface. Rikishi left the ring dazed and holding his nose.

(4) Chuck Palumbo & Funaki beat D-Von & Ron Simmons. Decent action and about what you’d expect from this bunch. Line of the night came from D-Von when he told a loud, obese man to shut his fat mouth and sit down.

(5) Brock Lesnar beat Big Show. A slow match highlighted by a three or four minute bear hug by the Big Slow. Finish came on a modified fireman’s carry by Brock.

(6) Jamie Noble beat Tajiri. Very good match. Nice pace throughout with all signature spots employed. Great to see the cruiserweights.

(7) Billy Kidman & Torrie Wilson beat John Cena & Dawn Marie. Another very good match. The woman are both very beautiful in person and carried their own in the match. John Cena has potential to be a huge star. He worked the crowd well and kept the match interesting throughout.

(8) Chris Benoit beat Matt Hardy. I have become a huge fan of Version 1.0 over the past couple of weeks and Matt did not let me down. Of course, any match that involves one of the best ever doesn’t hurt anybody. Benoit looked great as always and delivered a hell of a show. Finish came with a cross face.

(9) Edge & Rey Mysterio beat Eddie & Chavo Guerrero. Great match. They all worked hard and certainly delivered for the small crowd. Eddie is at his best right now and it was great to see him live. Rey is incredible and I am starting to believe that Edge is a huge star.

Overall, I rate the show very highly, but with the size of the crowd I am certain that I am going to be taking longer trips to see WWE live in the future.

QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS

If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to: pwtorch@pwtorch.com.

We accept reports in any format, but if it’s not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don’t just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don’t have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.

Also, please list tag teams using the “&” symbol as opposed to stating “and. ” Reserve use of ” and” when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. ” Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match” ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
