SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Jerry Lawler and his fiancee, Lauryn McBride, have both been released from Shelby County Jail in Memphis.

Jail records show both were released Friday and are due back in court on Monday (June 20) for a hearing on their dual domestic violence arrests.

Lawler posted bail Friday morning and was released from jail around 11:30 a.m. on Friday morning as people and media gathered outside the building, reports the Commercial Apeal.

As he left the jail, Lawler said he did not have a statement to make on the matter until he talked to his attorney, then he would release a statement. (Video)

While in jail, Lawler talked to WMC Action News 5 about the incident, claiming McBride got violent when he confronted her about her whereabouts and drinking.

“Sometimes when she over-drinks we get into a little bit of a shouting match, and then she wanted to leave,” Lawler told the TV station from jail. “I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was just not in any condition to drive. So she got more and more upset. She called 911, scratched my face in the process.

“Anyway the police came out and they said it’s a domestic dispute, and we’re going to have to take both of you guys downtown. Nobody was hit, nobody was hurt. It’s just something that happened as a result of, you know, drinking too much.”

At the time of the incident, McBride presented her version of events to police officers that led to both being arrested.

From the Commercial Appeal’s Report:

McBride alleged that Lawler held her against the kitchen counter and then hit her on the left side of her head and pushed her against the stove. She also alleged that Lawler went upstairs and retrieved an unloaded pistol that he put on the kitchen counter and told her to “go ahead and kill yourself.”

Lawler told police that he and McBride argued over her lying about where she had been. He told officers that the argument turned violent when McBride allegedly scratched him on his face, threw a candle at him, and kicked him in the groin. Lawler said that McBride was intoxicated and alleged that she brought the pistol in the kitchen after getting it out of his garage.”

After being arrested, Lawler was “suspended indefinitely” by WWE. Lawler was advertised for the Money in the Bank PPV pre-show Sunday in Las Vegas.

Lawler’s former announce partner Jim Ross commented on the situation in his latest blog at jrsbarbq.com.

“Shocked to hear of my friend Jerry Lawler’s arrest in Memphis late Thursday night on a domestic battery charge. King’s fiancé was also jailed on the same charge. Allegedly alcohol was a contributing factor in this matter that resulted in Jerry being suspended indefinitely from WWE  as WWE has a zero tolerance policy as it relates to domestic violence issues,” Ross wrote.

“For the record, Jerry doesn’t drink whatsoever nor have I ever seen him act aggressively toward any female or anyone else for that matter. I have not spoken to Jerry recently and hope that this unfortunate matter can be resolved quickly and efficiently. “
