SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Former TNA wrestler Hernandez commented on the news that he will not be part of Season Two of Lucha Underground on El Rey Network.

“That ship has sailed and is gone from both parties.  It’s in its best interest that they do their own thing and I do my own thing. I can’t get into too much because of legalities but it’s best on both parts that they go their way and I go my way and life goes on,” Hernandez said on the “Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling” podcast.

Hernandez is optimistic about the second season, though, if the writers come up with the same magic from Season One. “I think it can because what they came up with in the past was phenomenal and they have to do more storyline stuff because you pretty much can’t top some of the stuff they did athletically. I think they have to be more storyline based with this season.”

Sept. 25 Report

Lucha Underground announced Friday they have “parted ways” with Shawn Hernandez.

Earlier this year, Hernandez signed a contract with Lucha Underground, then returned to TNA to be part of the Beat Down Clan faction.

However, because of the nature of Hernandez’s Lucha contract, TNA could air footage that included Hernandez. That led to the BDC disappearing from TV.

Lucha releasing Hernandez from his contract allows him to return to TNA or pursue other promotions.

Lucha announced earlier this week that El Rey Network ordered a second season of the wrestling show, which will premiere in 2016. Filming is scheduled for Los Angeles later this year.
