WWE NXT Takeover News & Notes 4/1

– Shinsuke Nakamura made one of the all-time great WWE debuts in an epic singles match against Sami Zayn. Nakamura officially arrived in WWE, while Zayn essentially said farewell to NXT.

– There were two title changes on the show. American Alpha (Jason Jordan & Chad Gable) captured the NXT Tag Titles from The Revival (Dash & Dawson) and Asuka captured the NXT Women’s Title from Bayley.

In the main event, Finn Balor retained the NXT Title over Samoa Joe, who bled throughout the entire match.

– Fresh off his TNA exit, Bobby Roode was shown at ringside before the main event. The crowd reacted strongly to Roode’s presence on the NXT special.

– Earlier in the show, WWE showed New Japan free agent Kota Ibushi in the crowd. WWE also showed Scott Hall & Sean Waltman, Jim Ross & Michelle Beadle from ESPN, and Stephanie McMahon in the crowd.

– Austin Aries made his TNA in-ring debut defeating Baron Corbin in the opening match.

– Corey Graves and Tom Phillips handled commentary on the show.

– Linda McMahon and some McMahon Family members were ringside on the hard camera side.
