Notes from Raw in L.A. at The House That Kobe Bryant Built (Staples)…

– When Roman Reigns was first introduced, it was an approximately 60/40 split against him. I suspect the ratio was even worse, but the pro-Reigns fans knew what they were up against and were initially quite vociferous. That introduction garnered his greatest cheers of the evening. The support for Roman waned with every cheer/boo opportunity thereafter.

A symbol of the uphill battle Reigns and WWE has came when Roman was introduced in the main event. By that time the crowd was easily 70-30 against him. During the boos, I saw a young woman near me efforting a few claps as she yawned. I don’t know if she was exhausted from the three-hour show or from her futile attempts to support her guy. Or both.

– The most over things of the night were (1) Zayn vs. A.J. Styles. (2) Bray Wyatt playing face. (3) Owens vs. Cesaro. (4) Charlotte vs. Natalya.

– The loudest sound of the night in-house was the earth-shattering boos against Roman after he completed his “…I’m the guy!” line. My very casual fan of a brother, confused, turned to me and asked if Roman was turning that very moment. He hadn’t heard it before, and thought the line was meant to heelishly rub his title in the fans’s faces.
