The show opened with a video package featuring King Cuerno, Johnny Mundo, Mil Muertes, Prince Puma, and Rey Mysterio.

Title sequence rolled.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Matt Striker said that Dario announced that the trios tag titles will be defended at Ultima Lucha. Striker then ran down the card and hyped Puma vs. El Dragon later tonight.

In-ring: Melissa Santos introduced King Cuerno for the opening contest. His opponent tonight is Mil Muertes.

1 – KING CUERNO vs. MIL MUERTES (w/Catrina)

Cuerno ran from Mil, who eventually caught Cuerno in the ring with a spear and beat him down. Mil landed a lariat for a near fall. Cuerno tried to come back, but ran into a chokeslam. Cuerno hit a running knee, then knocked Mil to the outside and hit a baseball slide.

Cuerno dove onto Mil on the outside and subsequently knocked over the referee as well. Cuerno grabbed a chair from under the ring and slammed it right over Mil’s head (unprotected). Mil then struck Cuerno across the face and whacked him across the back with the chair.

Mil set up a chair in the corner ropes. Mil charged at Cuerno, but Cuerno ducked and rolled up Mil whole grabbing the ropes for the win.

WINNER: King Cuerno at 4:33. Why do we need a chair shot to the head? Why? It accomplished nothing and it was inconsequential by the end of the match.

Still to come: Fenix vs. Johnny Mundo. It’s being billed as a first time ever, which honestly shocks me this hasn’t been thrown out on a card before.

Dario’s Office: Ivelisse and Taya met with Dario. Dario told Taya how he was impressed with her accomplishments. Dario said there can only be one baddest b—– so they will take on each other at Ultima Lucha. As Ivelisse left the room she past Catrina. Catrina requested a re-match between Muertes and Cuerno at Ultima Lucha. Dario laughed at the fact how Catrina thinks she can demand something. Catrina said they want a death match. Dario said he hates her but the fact that it’s a death match, she can have it. She then disappeared. Dario’s response, “Women.”

In-ring: Santos introduced Prince Puma to the ring. His opponent tonight is El Dragon Azteca.

2 – PRINCE PUMA vs. EL DRAGON AZTECA (w/Rey Mysterio, Jr.)

Puma and Dragon exchanged various moves and counters until they came face to face center ring. They traded chops then slide to the outside. Puma caught Dragon off of a dive then tossed him into the ringpost. Dragon hit a hurricarana and dropkick in the ring. Fans chanted for both Puma and Azteca.

Dragon hit a big-time DDT for another near fall on Puma. Puma caught Dragon with a powerbomb and a suplex. Puma ascended to the top rope. Dragon stopped Puma on the ropes and hit a sunset flip for a near fall. Dragon missed a splash and Puma hit a belly-to-belly into the turnbuckle. Puma hit a piledriver for a close two count. Puma landed a dropkick, then climbed to the top and hit the 630 splash for the win.

Post-match: Rey and Puma stood toe-to-toe and exchanged a few words.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 8:45. Some fun spots, but it’s a shame a match that could’ve meant more was just thrown out with minimal hype.

In-ring: Dario stood center ring with with Texano, The Mack, Cage, and Son of Havoc. Dario said he was very excited for Ultima Lucha. Dario said he has big plans for the four as they would be apart of a unique opportunity. Dario said there would be a tournament. He suggested they get a jump start right now so the four brawled with one another.

[JD’s Reax: Really awkward spot. It didn’t fit with the flow of the show so I’m assuming this was recorded later then inserted into the show to make sense of the unique opportunity.]

FINAL THOUGHTS: Ultima Lucha is shaping up to be a very nice card with the first part starting next week. I’m excited to see what happens and if they change anything in the temple. Some nice wrestling tonight, but I feel like they gave away two big-time matches without any real hype. That continues to be a problem throughout the series.
