WWE NXT TV Results
August 3, 2016

Aired on WWE Network

(1) Hideo Itami beat Sean Maluta from the Cruiserweight tournament with a running knee. This was Itami’s first NXT TV match back from injury. Notably, the announcers brought up the storyline write-off from a year ago of Itami being attacked in the parking lot, with Kevin Owens being the lead suspect.

(2) Mojo Rawley vs. Chris Atkins was supposed to be Mojo’s proper NXT farewell to the Smackdown roster. But, NXT champion Samoa Joe crashed the match and took out both men.

(3) NXT Women’s champion Asuka beat Aliyah via submission in a non-title match. Bayley was on commentary to promote their Women’s Title match at NXT Takeover. But, Asuka gave her a ringside seat for a closer look at the destruction. Bayley was drawn into the ring when Asuka kept the Asukalock applied after the match was over, setting up a stare down.

Coming August 20: Women’s wrestler Ember Moon.

Bobby Roode, dressed in a business suit, made his official NXT TV debut. The announcers subtly referenced Roode’s TNA background by noting his connection to other NXT roster members Austin Aries and Eric Young. Roode’s promo centered on NXT needing Bobby Roode to get to the next level. He vowed to take NXT to the business community and turn NXT into a better place. Roode turned on the crowd, vowing to bring in executives and important people on the front row, kicking out the stupid fans with stupid chants wearing stupid cargo shorts and over-sized t-shirts. Roode shouted that he is a Superstar. And no one is as “glorious” as Bobby Roode. “This is the new NXT. And I am at the helm,” he closed. “From this moment forward, NXT will be … Glorious!”

Next Week: Asuka vs. Bayley Women’s Title contract signing.

(3) NXT tag champions The Revival (Dash & Dawson) beat TM61 (Shane Thorne & Nick Miller) in a non-title match, clearing the path for Gargano & Ciampa to get an NXT Tag Title shot against the champs at Takeover.
