SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Brock Lesnar’s suspension was issued today by the Nevada Athletic Commission. He must serve a one year suspension and his victory over Mark Hunt has been declared a no contest. Lesnar won the fight, but because of being flagged on two United States Anti-Doping Association tests, the decision has been thrown out. He was also fined $250,000.

Lesnar initially faced a two-year suspension, but it has been reduced to one. The specific substance he tested positive for has been not been disclosed.

Because Lesnar is considered a “part time performer” for WWE, he is exempt from their Wellness Policy testing.

Lesnar faces no punishment from WWE for his drug test failure by an independent agency. He is eligible to fight for UFC again next year after the suspension expires.

Keller’s Analysis: The exclusion of part time talent from Wellness Testing greatly undercuts the credibility of WWE’s policy and the perception of it being a good faith, sincere attempt to curb PED usage. Why bother testing anyone if it’s okay not to test part timers? It doesn’t really make sense. It just treats some people differently then others without a reason I’ve heard WWE state or defend.
