SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

STARDOM SHINING SUMMER
JULY 14, 2019
TOKYO, JAPAN AT SHIN-KIBA 1ST RING
AIRED ON STARDOM WORLD
REPORT BY HARLEY R. PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Tyler said this weekend was about showing that any combination of TCS would be successful as a team. Hina said her team with Onozaki had something to prove.

(1) QUEEN’S QUEST (Leo Onozaki & Hina) vs. TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Bobbi Tyler & Ruaka)

Tyler with a pump-kick to Onozaki.

WINNERS: Tokyo Cyber Squad in 5:30.

-Lucas said the last time she saw Iida was at core-rock-in (Korakuen Hall) and that didn’t go so well for Iida. Iida reminded us that Lucas was a traitor who betrayed Stars. She vowed to make her regret that betrayal.

(2) SAYA IIDA vs. ZOE LUCAS

Lucas Landslide for the win.

WINNER: Zoe Lucas in 6:36.

(Pageot’s Perspective: I actually forgot about Lucas’ turning on Stars. It was less than a month ago but wasn’t followed up on at all on the last five shows. That’s a missed opportunity. Storytelling is so slight in Stardom that they should milk angles like that for all they’re worth.)

-Tora had nothing of interest to say about their opponents here, which Sumire found hilarious. Sumire said they’re just a side dish. Nakano said that Producer P was still being held hostage by Sumire after yesterday’s show. She was distraught. Kashima said she wants nothing to do with Sumire. She wished Nakano good luck in getting him back but she was on her own. Kashima eventually agreed to fight for him after seeing how upset Nakano was.

Sumire carried P to the ring and stuffed him inside her t-shirt. One man in the audience found the sight of her with false giant breasts very funny. Sumire and Nakano fought over P. Tora wound up with him at ringside. They played keep away.

(3) ARTIST OF STARDOM CHAMPIONS STARS (Tam Nakano & Saki Kashima) vs. OEDO TAI (Natsuko Tora & Natsu Sumire w/Producer P)

Sumire ducked a double-team attempt, leading to Nakano and Kashima kicking each other in the shins. Inverted atomic drop to Kashima’s sensitive area. She sold the pain but managed to catch Sumire with a backslide.

WINNERS: Stars in 10:37.

-Kashima took a mic. She said Sumire’s always pulling some kind of crap and everybody knows it. She wouldn’t let her have her way in their forthcoming trios title match. Sumire told them they better hurry up and train. Tora left with P.

(Pageot’s Perspective: Good match. It still feels like we’re just biding time until we’re back at Korakuen on the 24th, though.)

-AZM said she had her favorite opponent in Kid. Hayashishita said that her and Watanabe will defend the tag titles against Kyona and Konami tomorrow so they’re the only thing on her mind. Hoshiki asked Kid if she was going to whoop on AZM. Kid confirmed that she would.

(4) STARS (Wonder Of Stardom Champion Arisa Hoshiki, Artist Of Stardom Champion Mayu Iwatani, & Starlight Kid) vs. QUEEN’S QUEST (AZM & Goddess Of Stardom Champions Momo Watanabe & SWA World/Future Of Stardom Champion Utami Hayashishita)

AZM with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors into an octopus and Kid was forced to tap.

WINNERS: Queen’s Quest in 11:04.

-Kagetsu said they’d do their best as usual. Kyona showed up late to the TCS promo carrying a bottle of makeup remover(?). She said she wanted Miyagi and she’d peel her dirty skin off with the oil.

Oedo Tai attacked during Kimura’s introduction.

(5) OEDO TAI (High Speed Champion Hazuki, Kagetsu, Andras Miyagi, & Jamie Hayter) vs. TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Hana Kimura, Jungle Kyona, Konami, & Death Yama-san)

Kyona and Miyagi started by oiling up and battling in a test of strength at ringside. They both made hot tags at 10:00 as well. Anarchist suplex from Miyagi. Miyagi looked for a tombstone from the second rope but Death saved Kyona from… well… death. Top rope splash connected but Miyagi kicked out. After both teams got involved Miyagi hit a spinning tombstone on Kyona and pinned her.

WINNERS: Oedo Tai in 13:30.

-Kimura addressed Rossy Ogawa and said that she, Tyler, and Lucas want a match in Nagoya for the trios titles. Kimura asked “pretty please” while Lucas got on her knees to plead. Then Kimura and Lucas flossed. After a jump-cut Stars were at ringside and said they’ll take on anyone. Then Oedo Tai were back in the ring. Kagetsu said this was a joke. They lost and they’re demanding title matches? Kagetsu said Oedo Tai would go on strike if they lost.

(Pageot’s Perspective: Bummer. But losing is a big part of Kyona’s success and character. I suspect she gets the win back in the 5Star Grand Prix. They’ve done a decent job this summer of making the trios titles seem like a big deal with everybody but QQ going after them. The post-match stuff with the TCS women vying for Ogawa’s affection hit a little too close to home.)
