SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

-NJPW announced on their website that Jon Moxley will not appear at the G1 Climax 29 press conference on July 5 and G1 Climax 29: Night 1 on July 6. Moxley was never advertised for the events by NJPW, but it is normal for all competitors in the G1 Climax to appear at the opening press conference and wrestle on the undercard when they aren’t in block action. The company issued the following statement on their website regarding Moxley’s status for those events, which can be read below:

Jon Moxley has been confirmed as a participant of G1 CLIMAX 29. Unfortunately, Moxley will miss the G1 CLIMAX 29 Opening Day taking place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on July 6, 2019.

Additionally, he will not be in attendance at the G1 CLIMAX 29 Press Conference taking place on July 5, 2019.

Moxley will join the G1 tour on July 13 in Tokyo.

We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Moxley in Dallas, and appreciate your understanding.

Jon Moxley will not appear at the G1 Climax press conference on July 5 or G1 Climax 29: Night 1 on July 6 in Dallas, Texas because of his AEW contract. PWTorch has confirmed with multiple sources that Moxley is exclusive to AEW in the U.S., which is why he wont appear at the press conference or the G1 event in Dallas, Texas. This provision also applies to Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, who are able to wrestle in NJPW, but not in the U.S.

Moxley will appear at all of the G1 events in Japan from July through August. NJPW has announced all of the undercard matches for the G1 climax events and it was revealed that Moxley will be teaming regularly with Shota Umino. Their first match together will be on July 14 when they will take on Jeff Cobb & Ren Narita.

Radican’s Analysis: This isn’t a big surprise. Moxley was never advertised, but given that it’s tradition that all of the wrestlers in G1 appear at the opening press conference and wrestle on the undercard, some people were holding out hope that Moxley would appear at the G1 events in Dallas despite his contract with AEW. The announcement that Moxley will be tagging on some of the G1 events with Umino should make for some fun interaction between the two given that Moxley took Umino under his wing as his personal Young Lion after beating him at Dominion.

-The entire card for G1 Climax 29: Night 1 in Dallas, Texas has been released. The show will air live on AXS TV. The lineup is as follows: Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi in an A Block tournament match, Kota Ibushi vs. KENTA in an A Block tournament match. Will Ospreay vs. Lance Archer in an A Block tournament match, EVIL vs. Bad Luck Fale in an A Block tournament match, SANADA vs. Zack Sabre Jr. in an A Block tournament match, Jushin Liger & Juice Robinson & Toru Yano vs.  LIJ (Tetsuya Naito & Shingo Takagi & BUSHI),  Bullet Club (Jay White & Chase Owens vs. CHAOS (YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto), and Tomohiro Ishii & Shota Umino vs. Jeff Cobb & Ren Narita.
