SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE hosted about 40 athletes on Thursday at their latest “invitation-only talent tryout,” WWE reported.

The camp at WWE’s Performance Center in Florida included MMA fighter-turned pro wrestler Shayna Baszler of Ronda Rousey’s famed “Four Horsewomen” MMA group. Baszler has been wrestling for “Eugene” Nick Dinsmore’s Midwest All-Pro promotion to prepare for the try-out.

Also at the camp was long-time independent wrestler Eddie Kingston, plus women’s stars Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace, Su Yung, and Nicole Savoy.

Also identified by WWE were Cedric Rougeau (son of Jacques Rougeau), Jacob Fatu (son of Tonga Kid), and Canadian tag team Jeff Parker & Matt Lee.

– Notable from Japan is that Nikkan Lee (Yuki Ito) tried out as a referee. Lee left the BJW promotion earlier this year to “embark on an overseas opportunity.” It turns out it was to try out with WWE as a referee. (Thanks to PuroresuSpirit.net)
