1 –  Gift of the Gods Champion EL DRAGON AZTECA JR. vs. IVELISSE – Gift of the Gods Championship match

The bell never rang to start the match. Ivelisse got in some early offense which took El Dragon Azteca to the outside. El Dragon came back into the ring and hit a spinning heel kick. El Dragon took control and cinched in a Boston Crab which turned into a crossface then a head lock. Ivelisse broke free and hit a springboard DDT. Ivelisse tried a rear naked choke, but El Dragon lifted her off then went to the top turnbuckle. Ivelisse climbed the turnbuckle and attempted a superplex, but El Dragon knocked her off and hit a leg drop from the top rope for the win.

WINNER: El Dragon Azteca at 7:08 to retain the Gift of the Gods Championship.

Post match: The crowd chanted for Ivelisse. El Dragon raised Ivelisse’s hand then left the ring giving high fives to fans. XO Lishus and Joey Ryan stood at the top of the temple. XO told Ivelisse that he knows she wants gold and it so happens that he and Joey Ryan want gold as well. XO offered that Ivelisse tag with him and XO. Ivelisse agreed to tag them and challenge on whoever wins the Trios Championship tonight.

In ring: Santos introduced King Cuerno to the ring. Antonio came out and told Cuerno that he greatly admires that he seeks out what he wants by letting Pentagon know that the hunt for his championship is on. He went on to say there is another deserving contender. He said that the winner of the match will take on Pentagon for his championship next week.

2 – KING CUERNO vs. MIL MUERTES – #1 contender match for the Lucha Underground Championship

Mil tossed Cuerno into the corner and landed multiple strikes. Mil continued to dominate until Cuerno finally hit a backbreaker. Mil caught Cuerno on the top turnbuckle and hit a superplex followed by a choke slam. Cuerno caught Mil with a knee strike, but Mil followed it up with a clothesline. The two traded blows in the middle of the ring. Cuerno launched Mil over the top rope. They traded strikes again on the outside. Referee Marty Elias demanded they bring the action back into the ring. Mil and Cuerno pushed over Marty and when the ref became conscious

WINNER: Double DQ at 5:08??? This is either the first or one of very few times LU has done a disqualification finish in its four season history.

Post match: Antonio came out to the temple and acknowledged there was no winner of this match. He said he doesn’t punish violence, he rewards it. As a result both of them will compete in a 3-way against Pentagon Dark for the Lucha Underground Championship. Mil and Cuerno continued to fight while Pentagon stood at the top of the temple and did his signature Cero Miedo with the crowd.

In ring: Santos announced the next match would be for the Trios Championship. She introduced Drago, AeroStar and Fenix to the ring. Fenix wore a new black attire and appeared to be drooling on his way to the ring. Jake Strong came out and said if Drago, AeroStar and Fenix win the championship tonight he will fight them by himself. He doesn’t need any partner because a wrestler beats a luchador everytime. He said he would break their ankles then beat his chest and chanted “strong”. Santos then introduced the The Reptile Tribe.

3 – Trios Champions THE REPTILE TRIBE (DAGA & KOBRA MOON & JEREMIAH SNAKE) vs. DRAGO & AEROSTAR & FENIX – Trios Championship match

Snake took down Drago, AeroStar and Fenix very quickly. Daga tagged in and bet down Drago. Drago reverse a double team from Daga and Snake. Drago took down Snake and Drago then Fenix tagged in and hit a flurry of kicks on Daga and Snake. AeroStar requested a tag and Fenix slapped AeroStar on the chest. AeroStar gained momentum taking out Daga. Snake stopped AeroStar with a clothesline followed by suplex. AeroStar and Daga fought briefly until they tagged in Snake and Drago. Drago took out everyone then dove onto Snake and Daga on the outside. Drago tried to get Fenix to participate with them, but acted very coy. Fenix assisted Drago on a dive to the outside. AeroStar told Fenix to hit his dive, but Fenix blindsided AeroStar with a super kick. Fenix beat down AeroStar then left him alone in the ring. Snake capitalized on the opportunity and dropped AeroStar then pinned him for the win.

WINNER: The Reptile Tribe at 9:17 to retain the Trios Championship.

Post match: Kobra Moon grabbed the microphone and announced The Reptile Tribe as the winners. Santos tried to consol Fenix, but he snapped back at her. Fenix threw Santos to the ground. El Dragon came out to assist Santos.

-Antonio opened a bottle of beer with a hammer. Marty Martinez came into Antonio’s office and dropped some money on his desk. Antonio asked what the money was for. Marty said his sister got a title match for the same amount. Antonio looked like he was going to refuse Marty’s offer until he stuffed the money into his jacket. He said next week Marty will compete against El Dragon Azteca for the Gift of the Gods Championship. Marty leaned back then dropped more money on the table and said there was something else he wanted.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Pentagon has quite the list of potential challengers. Next week he will face Mil Muertes and King Cuerno. Down the line he will face Marty Martinez. Then there’s a possibility of him facing a heel Fenix. Props to LU for doing a good job building up challengers for Pentagon. With only eight episodes left this season, I’m curious to see how many more championship matches Pentagon has before the end.

Fenix looks good in his new black attire. I’m interested in how or if he changes his style in the ring to wrestle more like a heel. Thus far I’m sold on his new character being this vicious person embodied by an evil spirit. This was a great instance of how all a backstage storylines can come back to ring. Previously, it felt like there were too many stories that only advanced out of the ring. This is refreshing to see how a big backstage skit like last week’s fight can come back to the ring and line up several matches to advance the story. Instead of waiting for the next backstage segment a few weeks down the line.
