SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

The following article is part of our Weekly Overview Series to help put in perspective major wrestling promotions with a weekly overview, looking at news and roster developments, results, future line-ups, social media activity, key interviews, plus a timely commentary at the end. We will be featuring similar features on other promotions each week and each will be updated weekly.

•Top Stories of the Week

  • New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced New Japan of America. This is a subsidiary of New Japan Pro Wrestling that will tour exclusively in the US. This is yet another major company that ROH will be competing with in the near future. This helps to explain the sudden separation between ROH and NJPW.
  • It is rumored that PCO’s Ring of Honor contract is expiring soon, most likely the end of the year, it has not been reported greatly how both sides feel about an extension into 2020.

•Closing Commentary

I am looking forward to seeing how the UK welcomes ROH this upcoming weekend. Will ROH see a similar drop-off like it has in North America? Or will the famously diehard UK wrestling fan also shun ROH in 2019?

I don’t think that this is a make-or-break for Ring of Honor by any stretch, but this could be yet another sign about the evaporating interest in ROH in general.

The card(s) are not very exciting to me personally, so we will see what happens as a result.
