WWE on ESPNews Recap
Airdate: July 5, 2016
Guests: The Wyatts (mainly Bray Wyatt)
Host: Todd Grisham
Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and Erick Rowan joined Todd Grisham (filling in for The Coach) for this week’s SportsCenter interview during the 9:00 p.m. EST hour of ESPNews.
Notably, Bray Wyatt challenged The Rock to a match at WrestleMania 33 because they have “unfinished business” from Rock taking down Erick Rowan in an impromptu match at WM32 earlier this year.
Grisham started off the interview asking Bray about his character. It set the tone for an awkward start with Bray trying to talk with his character’s accent, but with his own thoughts. Bray eventually found a groove trying to balance a toned-down version of his TV character. Meanwhile, Strowman and Rowan maintained a serious demeanor throughout the interview.
In addition to throwing out the WM33 challenge, Bray talked about being in the ring with The Undertaker at WM31 and John Cena at WM30.
Bray was also asked about his favorite matches. Bray picked The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WM25 as his favorite WWE match. Personally, he picked his Royal Rumble 2014 match against Daniel Bryan as his favorite career singles match because it signaled to the audience that he arrived. He also picked The Wyatts’s first match against The Shield as his favorite tag match.
Asked who his favorite WWE star of all-time is, Bray picked Jake Roberts because they think the same way.
Asked what WWE stars cannot do when they arrive in the company, Bray said “you cannot be afraid.” He said you will be destroyed if you to come to WWE with fear or a “deer in the headlights” approach.
The interview closed with football talk. Bray picked J.J. Watt as his favorite athlete, saying he would fit in great with the Wyatts if he grew out a beard. Bray closed by saying he does not pick favorites when it comes to his faction because they are all his brothers.
